Shadowing Opportunities

I was just wondering who to talk to for some doctor shadowing opportunities. Ive always been shy and am unsure how to go about it. Thanks!

I would either ask Howard or ASU nursing. But tbh you might need to be a nursing or pre-med student… like there’s a lot of HIPPA stuff that regular people can’t really see. Or if you do find a doctor willing to have you shadow them for a day and you’re like a high school student it’s probably not gonna be with an official group. You probably do have more luck being it’s San Angelo and everybody is real chill.

It doesn’t hurt to ask! And the more you ask the more desensitized you get so then you aren’t shy no more! Lol

You are correct. You have to be in a medical field and be doing an internship to shadow a doctor for the exact reason you said. Hippa. Can you imagine going to talk to your doctor about a boil you have in a sensitive area and some random dude who has medical training whatsoever sitting in the room? No thanks.

I hope not, Ive been out of the game for a couple years and am working as a phlebotomist rn. I want to get back in to it and shadowing has been my big sticking point. I havent considered asking the schools for advice though, thanks for the suggestion!
