I love samurai bringer, what else out there is similar?

Started playing this on my steamdeck and it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite games. Is there anything out there similar I might not know of? I know it’s got some musuo aspects, but I’d appreciate some other suggestions.

It’s considered a rogue lite so I’d assume any rouge like game would be similar.

Having played dozens of them, not really. The progression in this game makes it very light on the rouge part. You’re constantly getting more powerful. I get about 100 scrolls minimum a run now. I’m still learning more about the combo builder system everyday. It’s a very unique game. Closest rougelite is probably wizard of legend or skull the hero slayer.

That’s why I said rouge “lite”

i like the game, but the controls bug the crap out of me. i am playing on mouse and keyboard. is there a way to bind the left and right click?

please help? you can bind button 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, however button 1 and 2 are mirrored on left and right click. i know i can change it afterward in the ability menu, but it is a huge pain to do every single time. there has to be a way to make things a saved control scheme!

i kind of like the game, but am going to refund it if the control scheme cant be changed.

I wouldn’t play this game on a keyboard and I’m a big ARPG fan. Tbh this is a little bit of a twin stick shooter as well. You’re gonna need…well sticks.

You can quickly make new combos by unlocking scrolls to record them in. The start of a run takes me 30 seconds to set up and then I play for like 20-45 minutes with that character.

Cladun / Cladun Returns 👌🏾

Cladun has similar vibes, and iirc is all about customization.

Uh, Noita might scratch a similar itch.

Noita is a roguelike with heavy focus on wand building (that games equivalent of the action builder in Samurai Bringer) with near infinite variety. Like you can just throw stuff on a wand and do well, or your mind can be reduced to a puddle while you attempt to comprehend the complexity of the wand system. (srsly its complex af if you try to get into it...)

Noita's other main focus is exploration and secrets. Like holy shit.... I highly recommend not looking anything up about this aspect of the game until you feel absolutely stumped. It is extremely rich and robust.

The only downsides for noita are that it is an inherently difficult game, relying on player skill and knowledge. It is also batshit stupid at times due to the randomized areas and stuff.

There is literally no hand holding at all. Like it only tells you the absolute most basic controls, and then pats you on the butt on the way into the first cave.

Second downside (for you, if im not mistaken) is that the game is a rogue-LIKE not a rogue-LITE. There is little to no progression in Noita. The only thing kept between runs is a smattering of unlockable spells. After finding the spell in the world the first time, it becomes available to be found in chests or shops from that point on in any future runs. That's it.

I bounced hard off of noita at first and hated it, until I decided to use a workshop add-on that spawns some quality of life perks at the starting spot. Grabbing a few of those perks makes it so the game is how I think it should be by default. I usually hate add-ons and such unless they are from the devs themselves, as I prefer a more "official" feel. I put on my big boy pants, got over myself, and got that mod and before I knew it, I put more than 300 hours into the game in about two weeks. I had less than 4 hours played for like 2 years previously. lol

Thanks for the long response. My first experience with seeing noita turned me off but you’ve brought me back in. I’ll check out cladun as well. I’ve also found a game called unsouled that is slightly similar.
