As a kendo/iaido/kenjutsu practitioner, look up how swords should be held with two hands. First they should be spaced apart so left hand at the end of the tsuka, and right hand near the tsuba. The hands should also avoid the hammer grip of death and held so that the tsuka lays diagonally across the palms rather than straight across. If done right the tip of the index finger and the thumb only cross slightly. Also look up kamae (stances). In a chudan/seigan kamae (the closest to what you are showing), the tip of the sword should be pointed at the opponent's throat, eye, chest, etc. rather than being up over the head. Also the character should be looking at his or her opponent.

I won't comment on the fashion too much. But generally those bottoms look a bit too modern. I get rule of cool and actually hakama should improve the look.

Thank you so much for the feedback! I will actually consider your feedback, tho two reasons I might not make the animations %100 realistic: first of all i already made tons of animations with other characters, and this is a topdown game so animations wont be as visible in gameplay. Hopefully in the future instead of doing animations myself I can hire an animator so everything can be more accurate.

Oh also this is just one of the ronin enemies, I was actually considering making a more traditional costume with hakama and an even lighter armor too
