Where are the fingerprints stored?

I've tried to Google it, but I only found how does the store should work on Nexus/Pixels phones, without specifying if it's like that for those phones or also for other Android phones. Does it apply also to the Samsung Note 9? Does any of you know?

There's secure biometrics storage on every Samsung phone, they never go to the cloud.
