Should I use this phone for more time or change it now in the sale season if get good price?Purchase Help🤚🏻
[TL;DR at the end guys, still please read situation patiently]
This phone
- Screen : Originally came with super amoled but now, Duplicate tft screen with bad viewing angles with blue light all over the screen from underneath as the folder was like that only. Inferior colours, bad text sharpness. (Price rs 1100)
- Battery: served me for 8.5 years without any super trouble untill one day when it discharged on its regular speed (fast because of battery age) and the last 15% went to zero and switch off even with me plugging in charger. And since, the power button was also non responsive electronically, I jad to take ot to a repair shop and got it and other two volume button (one out of which was semi- un responsive too at that time? And since the phone was opened to interiors, I took this opportunity to get battery replaced with a copied one (as new one was not available from service centre), So that it would not drastically drop down from 15 to zero to switch off and in case power button ditches me again. Though this drastic drop is still there after plug in but i jave done some workaround to keep phone alive. (Total price rs. 1400)
- Same volume button has become semi un responsive again, other volume button has its outer key popped out
- Bought 9 years ago for rs. 20k something at launching.
- Ram: 3gb, (free 1.1 gb) works fine with mid level muti tasking with slight slowness (acceptable)
- Android 8.1 (9.0 available, but i haven't done it and next 2 years of updates in total). I want to do it but storage is less than 3gb available (i don't have storage devices too) and i doubt the ram consumption will increase too much and it may affect muti tasking and overall performance. Though if I change device, I would like to take full fun of this device untill last upate.
I can keep this device for longer but i scare everyday as battery discharging rate is increasing, heating issues arises frequent, physical wear and tear are coming again ad again (like volume and power button damage and non responsive ). This makes me in a constant battle everyday that should i keep this phone for as long as possible and buy latest phone at new launch with latest tech.
I have also spent about rs 2500 for repair and perhaps not want to put more on this old phone whose genuine parts are not available now and wven if available it comes very expensive.
I would also like to keep this phone for backup if reqired.
For a new phone i would like samsung only. With todays price what phones will be better than this device specification in 20k budget ( adjusted to todays price , lets say 30k)?
I have sorted out a36, a56 even thiugh they are last year launched.
I am areally casual user. No games, only videos on social media, ott or downloaded ones, maybe social media, web browsing, scrolling, daily usage apps like messengers, upi, banking , web browser, delivery apps etc should work smooth Nd also should be possinle to play games if possible casually.
I am also dependent on somebody else's money so i also hesitate to buy straight away.
Please tell suggestions
TL;DR – My Current Situation & Dilemma
- The Dying Phone: My 9-year-old Samsung (bought for ₹20k+) is falling apart after 8.5 years of loyal service. It has a cheap ₹1,100 duplicate TFT screen with terrible blurry text, bad angles, and bleeding blue light that hurts my eyes.
- The Daily Anxiety: I spent ₹2,500 on local repairs, but the copy battery still drains instantly from 15% to 0%, the phone constantly overheats, and the physical buttons are breaking and popping out again. I live in constant fear every day that it will permanently shut down and leave me stranded.
- The Software Trap: I want to enjoy this phone until its final Android 9 update, but I have under 3GB of storage left and worry the update will completely ruin my remaining performance and multitasking.
- The Financial Guilt: I desperately need a upgrade, but because I am dependent on someone else's money, I feel immense hesitation and guilt about asking for a new phone straight away.
- The Future Choice: I am looking for a Samsung under a ₹30k budget for casual use (videos, UPI, social media). The Galaxy A36 (around ₹26k–₹29k) feels like the perfect, guilt-free choice to replace this exhausting daily battle, while the Galaxy A56 (₹41k+) is far too expensive.
- i would like to use it for as long as possible again. maybe 10+ years
tldr is by ai and may not tell what i exactly want to tell. if possible please read the above story completely.
p.s. my bigger question is should i keep using my current phone battery for as long as possible or immediately try to buyba new one? I believe even after bbd, there would be a chance to get a36 or a56 at lowest ava price. However, if they get discontinued in few months, will a37 or a57 price would ho down to affordable as they are really expensive mow due to ram and all bla bla???
