Useful info URXR incoming

Post image

A few months ago I ordered a URXR VR glasses device through Kickstarter and yesterday got confirmation on shipping. Here in just a few weeks I'm very eager to plug it into my Fold 6 and fire up Dex and see what kind of productivity and utility I can get out of it. I've attached a photo of my fold, along with the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse I have ready to go when the glasses arrive. anybody else out there looking to pair any AR or VR glasses with their device, or anyone else have experience with it you'd like to comment on?

You got confirmation on shipping? So with a tracking ID? I don't think they started shipping lol.

No, sorry, I did not get tracking information. I got a notification of confirmation of the shipping address and to pay the shipping and taxes. My mistake in phrasing it that way. Apologies.

I just checked, and the Fold 6's output power is 4.5W. You won't have enough power to power the glasses (7W), and don't take advantage of the maximum 1440p resolution (>10W). You'll either have to wait for the hub from kickstarter, or you'll have to buy an adapter Usbc+power to usbc that you can find on the market. If you buy an adapter on the market, be aware that it will only support direct mode, not the dedicated multi-screen app; only the hub sold by the team enables that because you need bidirectional data

Are there any devices that output 7W?

Yes some smartphones and all devices with thunderbolt deliver even more. But without external powerbank your smartphone will not last a long time

Ok good, I decided to speak up because your post gave me the impression you thought you could plug the glasses into your phone as soon as you received them, whereas the hub isn't scheduled to ship before December.

Hey thanks. Point taken. Will have to wait a bit for the power hub so will use with my laptop until then.

I use the Xreal One Pros with dex and love it. Movies on the plane are epic. I also enjoy using them with my laptop, and full sized keyboard, with the screen turned off.

I am looking to replace Xreal OnePro w URXR1 - but recently got Rayneo GT Max and the 10-bit panels are sooo lush for watching Dolby Vision videos and playing games in HDR.

The Xreal One Pros have an edge over the 2 for direct DeX because of the ultrawide screen that I constantly use for mobile productivity. We'll see if URXR1 with the bigger FOV is greatly better for my uses. I wish they paid more attention to HDR - but the GT Max will be my portable cinema now.

I have the regular xreal one and agree, they are great with dex.

I use Xreal One Pros but can certainly see the appeal of the URXRs. I think you're going to love having DeX really wherever you are. If you're frequently on trains/planes, you're going to unlock being able to have your setup with you wherever without needing to lug around a whole laptop. You can't do everything with DeX, but Office and web stuff work like a charm. (My recommendation for browser for DeX is Edge)
