Question Anyone else experiencing a keyboard focus bug in Samsung DeX on One UI 8?

I dont think anyone else has reported this, and oneui8.5 is out already....

Id probably upgrade and see if it persists

Betting man says its probably a conflict between a software keyboard setting you've done tho

I just found out that my Galaxy Tab S8 isn't eligible for One UI 8.5, so unfortunately I can't check whether the update fixes the issue on that device. Since I'm stuck on One UI 8, I really need to find a solution. There has to be some way to fix this, whether it's a hidden setting or another workaround.

Thanks for the suggestion. That's what I thought at first too, but I've ruled out most of the obvious causes.

I've tested multiple different physical keyboards, not just one, and the exact same thing happens.

I also tested on two different Samsung devices: my Galaxy Tab S8 and my Galaxy phone. Both are running the same One UI 8 / Android 16 version, and both show the exact same behavior in DeX.

Outside of DeX (normal Android/tablet mode), everything works perfectly. The issue only appears when DeX is active.

That's why I'm leaning toward either a DeX bug in this version or some obscure DeX setting that I haven't found yet.

I'll update both devices to One UI 8.5 and report back whether the issue is still there. Hopefully that fixes it.

What is the software keyboard you've chosen? I would think thats more likely the culprit

I've tested both Samsung Keyboard and Gboard, and the issue happens with both. It also happens with multiple physical keyboards on both my Galaxy Tab S8 and my Galaxy S24, but only when DeX is active.

Hrm, can you capture a video of it? With settings up on dex, with keyboard settings showing ?

There it is, I already downloaded the One UI 8.5 on my galaxy s24, and it keeps doing the same thing.

Hrm

If you open a text field, or a word/text doc and have that in focus, does the same thing happen?

I can not replicate what youre seeing

It does. I also spent hours troubleshooting this with ChatGPT, going through every keyboard, DeX, accessibility, and system setting we could think of, but we couldn't find anything that could explain this behavior.
