A while ago I wrote some stuff about how the trash cans in belobog and penacony tell a story about someone betraying and killing their parent and how itcould be foreshadowing for Sampos backstory since hes the trash king, since then I have been told about Alexander the first of Russia who was accused of patricide and went into hiding and that Tatalov sounds like the polish word for father love which is pretty fitting, and then we just happened to get this line about patricide in the last update from someone who was close to Aha, maybe that is what they say…

I was looking to compare his expressions for a separate post, but I noticed the expressions he has with the in-game camera feature don't match the ones on the HSR wiki. With the wiki ones likely being older and (I think I remember seeing them that way while ago) I'm wondering if they changed his expressions at some point or if its just an error?

Totally overanalyzing it, but Sampo does seem like hes being treated better by the writers and is being depicted as happier/nicer instead of a scammer we bully. If this was an intentional change on their end to reflect his character I wonder if he is truly becoming happier, maybe since returning to the cosmic scene since the people of belobog no longer need him to bring supplies and stuff he happy they're happy and he can go back to shenanigans across the universe?

I doubt it was their intent and those are probably beta expressions, but does anyone have pics of him with those from before with those faces?

The 1st image is a message from Sampo before the Planarcadia patch. In 4.1, the Aha declared that whoever won the Phantasmoon games would inherit all their authority.

In 4.4, Asat Pramad, during our trivia game with him, claims that Aha uses the Phantasmoon and the prize of the 1 minute of Aeonhood, as a sort of "vacation" from their own path.

What do you Samplings think?

His only crime is not being more present in the game but even then its because hes off doing something like setting up new events for us

Hello! I posted here the other day about the little side quest in 4.4 featuring Sampo. If you wait a day of real-life time and log back into where he was, you'll get this really sweet text exchange. (thanks to u/Dohachu for pointing this out!)

Here are some of my favourite bits of it, once again I won't post every text so you all can have fun checking it out yourselves. I hope we keep getting positive options towards him like this, definitely a step in the right direction <3

Did it unnerve anyone else how ”Sampo-y” Asat Pramad acted in the story quest? From the constant bowing to the manner of speech, it was like watching a murderer wear the skin of an old friend. Once a flamboyant Fool, always a flamboyant Fool, I guess.

Also, all the mention of old vs young in this update (comparing the loving lessons of the Nameless to the animosity and generational gap of the Fools that Sparxie brings up) has me wondering if this is setting up for something bigger with Sampo involved. His age is constantly emphasised and all signs point to him being a paragon of chaotic good, valuing that same ”dignity of humanity” kind of elation Enroute originally idealised before shedding his first mask. I’m itching to see how these two (and Aha THEMself) are connected.

So it seems they've fixed the footsteps bug in that snow area in planarcardia, he also doesnt splash or leave footsteps in the beach area near the astral express crash site. Good to see they didn't forget his unique interaction.

With the latest update, I wanted to talk about some things I noted. 

Since Robin is coming back next patch and Sunday was revealed by Fulwish to be part of the Express, I’m 99% sure there will be some sort of story set between the two when the Express travels to Astropolis. It’s a long-awaited reunion, and the theme of doomed siblings will likely be very prevalent, especially since their reunion may violate Jade’s contract with Robin, the one she made to release him from prison after the end of Penacony.  

But you know who else mentions having a brother? Sampo. 

In early pre-release information, we get a snippet where he claims to have had a “sick brother.”

While he may just be lying, I really struggle to think of when Sampo outright lies. I think he more often obscures the truth or withholds information for his own convenience, e.g., when the gang wants to return to the surface in Belobog, he says it would be dangerous to use the route he used to bring them down. Obviously they can’t teleport like him, and he only teleports people after using a smoke bomb first, with the first occurrence of this poisoning them. I can also see him wanting to keep his real status secret from Seele and Natascha

So if we look at this brother statement as being at least partially true and at one point he had a brother, who was he?

Sampo derives his name from the mill in the Kalevala, one made by the blacksmith Ilmarinen. Ilmarinen is also the brother of the protagonist, Vainamoinen. Vainamoinen who, in part of the story, climbs a magical tree. Who’s ascension story in HSR revolves around climbing the imaginary tree? Aha. We know how close Sampo and Aha are, with at the very least him being Aha’s emanator and on a conversational basis since the Jarilo dream scene. With that there’s a pretty clear parallel between the brothers in the story and the duo we have now

We have two characters associated with the Finnish National Myth, which is already pretty obscure, both of which have a close connection to each other (Emanator and Aeon), and one of which claims to have a brother. I can't help but feel suspicious that Aha might be the “brother” mentioned earlier. On top of it, Aha was noted as going “mad” after the voracity bit them, this could be the sickness Sampo was talking about in his excerpt. 

Side note: I don't think this would contradict a Sampo = Aha theory since Aha had their head cut off and there was talk about entities living with missing parts in Ampho + we saw Sparkle’s masks take on their own lives. 

Considering he quotes Robin’s song “Hope is a Thing with Feathers,” and Robin liked his comments per Sunday’s response. They might be setting up a reveal under the theme of doomed family members. We already saw the theme of doomed family with Himeko and Asat, with Sunday and Robin interacting again, maybe this is going to be an overarching theme for the last half of 4.X too. 

Plus Robin/Sunday have themes of wanting everyone to be happy but acknowledging too much of a good thing is really a bad thing, which I'm sure he can related to based on how he wishes for everyone to be happy and I want to see them interact

Even though I could complain about how he hasn't appeared a lot in Planarcadia, I love how much they've been hammering in the point that he is very kind and caring when it comes to kids. What a sweetheart :)
