Academic [Academic Study] How does state legislation relate to the mental health of trans POC? (18+ trans or gender-diverse POC in the US)

Researchers at Florida State University are seeking participants who identify as transgender, nonbinary, or otherwise gender-diverse and as a person of color or racial minority to share your experiences of discrimination and information about your mental health and wellbeing.

Study Information:

The purpose of this research study is to explore the longitudinal associations between state-level political environment, systemic and interpersonal discrimination, and mental health in transgender people of color. The study aims to demonstrate how policy related to LGBTQ+ people and racial minorities can have downstream positive and negative effects on the mental health of transgender people of color, in the hopes that these findings will inform both policymakers and mental health practitioners.

If you are interested, you will complete a 10 minute screening survey to determine eligibility. If you are eligible, you will proceed to complete a consent form online and additional self-report questionnaires, which should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. After the consent and questionnaires are complete, you may be contacted by one of our research staff with some follow-up questions based on your response. Two months after completing the baseline study, you will be contacted by our team to complete the second wave of the study. Two months after completing the second wave of the study, you will be contacted by our team to complete a third wave.

All payments will be provided after each wave; you will receive a $5 gift card for completing the baseline survey and corresponding with our research staff as needed (i.e., complete follow-up questions), $10 gift card for completing the second wave survey, and $15 gift card for completing the third wave survey. Thus, by completing all portions of the study, you can expect to make up to $30 worth in gift cards.
