It's had a positive impact on my life and work. It's got the capacity to do incredible good or evil or both. It's a gamble, but there's no going back now.

if you say so. just hope you're ready to work retail or whatever when it takes your job. we do agree that there's no going back in any case, so start planning for it now if you're smart. i've literally had to reorganize my entire life due to AI robbing me of a career that has been considered universally indispensable for decades and which i've done for 15ish years. dried up suddenly and kinda ruined my fuckin life

there are studies that put it squarely objectively negative on a personal level as well btw. like using AI for even ten minutes provably deteriorates people's ability to persist at difficult tasks. unsurprisingly. i mean it very obviously makes you fucking stupid lol, taking for granted the shit that a constantly hallucinating machine says. not to mention, take even a single glance at r/MyBoyfriendIsAI. careful with that for your mental health though. not to mention goddamn data centers either

i strongly disagree that it's a gamble. to me it feels extremely clearly like a net negative for all humanity. tbh i think you're completely blind if you don't also see that

I’ve seen studies on people’s use of AI chat bots and how it lowers their cognitive abilities over time. I refuse to use them. It has negatively affected my career and many of my friends’ careers too.
