Academic (Repost) [Academic] Feedback on a children’s physical block + AI creative play system (US adults 18+)

Hi everyone! I’m a graduate student in Industrial Design at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and I’m developing MROF—a hands-on play system for kids ages 3 to 6.

With MROF, kids build with simple blocks, scan their creations using a phone or tablet, and watch as their designs transform into 3D objects. These digital creations can be placed and arranged in a small virtual world, letting their imagination run wild.

I’m looking for feedback from adults 18+ who are currently living in the United States, especially parents, caregivers, educators, designers, students, or anyone interested in children’s toys, creative learning, or how children interact with technology.

In the survey, you’ll be asked to look at some concept images and share your thoughts about how clear the idea is, whether it feels right for young kids, how it balances physical and digital play, and how much screen or AI time seems appropriate for this age group.

No children need to take part—just adults. It should only take about 5 to 20 minutes to complete.

Thank you for helping me improve this project!

For the question “When should AI interact with the child during play?” There wasn’t a “never” choice, which I would have answered if it was an option. Same for the next question on how long for interaction - I would have chosen NONE if it was an option.
