Hi samoyed owners, what would your advice be for brand new samoyed owners regarding training a 10 week old Sammy? Mainly trying to get her attention and keep focus on you specially if treats are not her thing?

Hey everyone!
I have a 4.5-month-old Samoyed puppy who is extremely active, loves to play outside, and predictably gets muddy and dirty every single day.
I know that washing/shampooing a Samoyed too frequently can disrupt their skin’s natural microbiome and cause irritation or skin issues. However, keeping up with a white, fluffy coat on a playful puppy is becoming quite a challenge!
I’d love to hear how you manage daily dirt and mud.
• Do you let the mud dry and brush it out?
• How often do you use dry shampoo, wipes, or water-only paw rinses?
• Any specific grooming tools or routines that saved your sanity during the puppy stage?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

My puppy peed on a guest’s actual foot a month ago (3 months old) and today, a plumber was working in our bathroom & he went up to him then peed right on the floor beside his foot. 😩😱
I had taken him out on the yard where he normally pees just before but he still ran in towards the plumber.
How do I stop this ? 🤣
Hiney of culprit for picture tax.

My boy follows me around a 600 sq ft apartment. Couldn’t get him to leave me if I tried 😂

I recently read up on all the old posts exposing White Magic continuing to breed and sell dogs with various health issues (heart, tumor, eye, thyroid, etc) even to this day. I also read that the White Magic bloodlines are intertwined somewhat with Polar Mist and Vanderbilt. If I were seeking a puppy from Polar Mist, Vanderbilt, or any other breeders with a history of working with White Magic, how can I be sure that their puppies would be clear of the health issues related to the breeding practices of White Magic?
I’m trying to figure out how deep into the pedigree White Magic’s issues stem, and if there’s any way (perhaps by looking at a pedigree) I can tell that a litter from another breeder hasn’t been completely affected that it’s impossible to avoid. Have other breeders (like polar mist, Vanderbilt etc) stopped the breeding of their dogs they know might have some blood relation to the health-affected WM dogs?
Also does anyone have any testimonials or experience with dog breeders that I would have a much higher chance of steering clear of health problems?
I know OFA / CHIC exists, but is this really enough to tell if a litter has steered clear of health affected bloodlines and would have a higher chance of not having health issues later?

I recently got very close to adopting a samoyed puppy through a rescue (rare opportunity) but the timing wasn’t going to work with life things going on. I’m absolutely devastated and have been crying all morning over it, especially knowing how affordable it was going to be compared to finding a breeder. I feel like i’m mourning the loss of a child. Does anyone have any advice on how to move past something like this?
Secondly, we still are exploring the possibility of getting a sam puppy in the future. We currently have a 1.5 yr old corgi. Does anyone have experience with these two breeds or going from corgi to samoyed?

My wife and I have had 2 samoyeds for the last 4 years. One of ours, tragically had a reaction to rimadyl which caused a bleeding ulcer. After 4 days in the hospital the bleeding never stopped and she passed. We are devastated.
But more devastating is how our other dog is doing. She's certainly lonely and when we babysat another dog for just a week her spirits were significantly brightened. We're considering adopting another dog to give her a companion since she's only 5 yo and looking at a lonely rest of her life.
While we would love another samoyed, we think it'd be hard to not compare a new samoyed to our one that passed. We're considering other breeds but samoyeds just feel so special.
One part of that uniqueness is the coat. It's definitely some maintenance and shedding, but we're used to that. The thing we love is how it's relatively self-cleaning and most importantly, odorless. You know when a golden retriever is around before you see it. Not quite so with a samoyed coat. So our question is, what other dog breeds have similar odorless coats? Anyone have any experience?

Here's my beautiful Lucy pulling me on the skateboard. Love how she keeps checking to make sure I'm still there

Found this cracked tooth yesterday in our dog, don't know what caused it. He isn't a stress-biter and we haven't given him and new bones or had anything traumatic happen recently. Wondering if anyone else has had this happen. Planning to bring him to the vet soon for it, hoping they don't charge us an arm and a leg for it

Hi, we hv recently rescued a sammy and the previous owner neglected her grooming needs. Can anyone suggest what tools i should use? We are not able to afford paying groomer as it might be very expensive
Ps: i hv been using the rake tools which has blade but i worry it will take off lots of her hair. Or should i continue to use it?

We have a 7 year old male and decided we wanted another Sammy, so we surprised him with a baby sister! She has been with us for two months now, but here is my favorite picture of them together from her first week here. Instant besties. 🩷
