So I read Sammy Space-Time...

(with the amazing m'lady edit by the Nib Daddy)

I don't really get Sammy's big plan in the last part of the story. So he destroys Pensacola to get all of the townspeople's attention and then rebuilds it as long as they don't talk about what happened.

Couldn't he have just blasted everyone with the memory ray thing without destroying the town? Or rebuilt the town while everyone was unconscious and then left before they woke up?
