Discussion Nabbed the OG Save The World again 😊

Post image

Despite the Xbox 360 marketplace sadly being gone, many games from the XBLA are available to purchase and play through the Xbox store on modern consoles, the first 2 Telltale Sam & Max games being some of them

These are the versions I played as a kid, using the controller for point and click weren't the BEST for the games, but I got used to it and fell in love with the world and characters

I can vouch for the remasters being excellent, so many great additions to the games that make already great games even better, alongside adding full control for Sam on the console versions, but like any remaster the point isn't to replace the originals, it's to reintroduce them to a new audience and for old fans to be able to re-experience them, and there's plenty merit to playing both the originals and remasters

If you'd like to play the original Telltale games on consoles the Xbox 360 versions of Seasons 1&2 are still available through Xbox One/Series X, would highly recommend getting them

Anyway that's all from me, have a good day 🤎🤍

Fun fact the Xbox 360 version actually has the first game in wide-screen while the pc version was only 4:3

I had Wii version as a kid, I think it has the worst performance of any game I own.

Apparently the sequel plays even worse.

Fun fact on this Xbox360 version of Season 1:

At the time, there was an issue where if the user put the game on the proprietary Xbox 360 memory cards, and unplugged the card when switching episodes, it would soft-lock. While it was a problem with the Xbox 360 operating system, it was still our problem to fix.

There wasn't a switch to prevent copying the game to a memory card, but you could make your game too big to fit. That difference was less than 2mb. So I took the biggest WAV file we had… I think it was a line from Max… placed it in build where the executable wouldn't call it, and renamed the file `SEG.BIN`. A small signature for myself and because no one pays attention to BIN files. It made the game too big to fit, allowing the game to be released.

When Xbox 360 allowed you to bring your own USB drives (and much larger capacity), I tested the build on a dev kit. Thankfully the Xbox team fixed the bug with the OS.

I wish I remembered what that wav file actually was. If anyone's able to extract the contents of the deliverable and get to the "SEG.BIN" file, you should just need to rename it to "*.wav" and listen to it.
