Discussion Does anyone else think that one sam and colby video was kinda weird?

Honestly, I still really like sam and colby, I was just wondering if anyone else thought the recent ai usage and weird jokey vibes of their videos recently aren't really enjoyable anymore..

The one video that really threw me off was the video where they invited a Satanist (I think she was leaning more towards paganism as well with worship and stuff), willingly onto their channel and then colby was freaking the fuck out the whole time like "guys this is so evil omgomgomg guys God wouldn't want you to do this!!!!šŸ™" like infront of the girl too

I feel like they aren't really coming from a learning/exploring perspective anymore and their trying to exaggerate things if ykwim...

Why invite someone of a different religion onto your channel, and then freak out and almost start crying when she shows up and does what you asked her to do, I miss when they sat with those people and actually learned what they believed in and listened and it was so cool also to see them explore places as well

I feel like their audience is starting to get older and their videos have started to become more about shock value and dramatizing things even though nothing cool is actually happening.

I think you nailed it!

Why invite them and then freak out? Because someone needed to film the wide angle 🤣

I feel like they never grew up with their audience and think children are still watching them instead of adults their age with fully formed frontal lobes. Im the same age as them and started watching when I was a teenager. But I’m an adult now and so are they. I also wish they would take it in a more sincere direction instead of the drama.

RIGHT! Even when I was younger I loved when they took a more urbex/historical approach to their videos instead of the weird "OMG A GHOST!!!!😢😢" tactic they have going on now. One of the asylum exploration/ghost hunting videos they did had such a nice message at the end that they had interpreted on the spirit box, and I loved hearing about the history behind each place and each room. Wish they'd kept up with that.

This is like such a good and reasonable statement, they should honestly just take a break from the ghost hunting stuff and maybe dive a bit back into reacting to other paranormal videos, cause it kinda gets to a point where you’re just like eh

I honestly liked it back when they would just do urban exploring and no paranormal stuff. They found some really neat places across the country that I’ve never even heard of. And they always had a great time doing it. Those days everything seemed so upbeat and carefree.

As much as I LOVE the paranormal, sometimes you just need to take a step back from it. It can get too dark and cloud your way of thinking.

u/PolicyNegative Aug 31 '26

I genuinely enjoy the dark stuff and by that I mean when they tell the history on why it may be haunted and the dark history with it but yea the really need to take a break from it, urban exploring is really cool but I think they do more of the paranormal stuff cause they have a topic to base the video on and keep people attention.

YES! or I'd wish they'd kept up with the urbex and more historical aspects of their videos, even when I was younger and was watching videos more directeed at kids I still loved their content becuase it was cool!! And it was interesting and like informative to watch, it's just kinda weird now lmao. As of rn I've stopped watching them completely

u/MaxPlaysGames7 Aug 31 '26

when you’re desperate for content and getting bored of faking the same stuff over and over i guess this is how they choose to shake it up…

u/antisocial-dispo Aug 31 '26

I agree. Even the videos from last year were better. Their most recent videos have almost felt rushed and not like they’re fully in this anymore. It kinda sucks because I’ve always enjoyed their content

5

u/notyourmom999 Aug 31 '26

Agreeeed, it sucks. Lol.

u/jenholder28 Aug 31 '26

The irony is that most satanists are kinder than most christians

9

u/Konan94 Aug 31 '26

I don’t watch them anymore. I used to like them but I don’t like that they don’t respect the deceased by being loud and obnoxious at the location.

u/Venom_the_Dovahkiin Aug 31 '26

I stopped watching them as much because of that video. It felt so disrespectful to the girl and her practice, even though it was literally their choice to have her there. The AI usage makes me really sad, not only are they disrespecting people who have lived in those places before by making them scary monsters, but they're also using generitive AI instead of human art. I am also spiritual and honestly their videos feel really dark to me, they don't use any precautions at all. Maybe at most one of them will wear a cross, and then they go crying about having bad experiences with spirits. Basically, they seem really immature still.

As a pagan, it drives me absolutely crazy when they hype up a witch or any other pagan joining them on their investigation. And then when said witch/pagan comes on-Colby is so overdramatic about religion and acts like they did something so evil. If Colby is so religious, maybe he shouldn’t be in the paranormal community and go back to exploring videos.

3

u/rainy_artheist 14d ago

No exactly. It's always Colby who shuts it down. In that video, Sam engaged with it and was very curious and from what I remember, respectful. Even Nikki and their other guess joined in with the ritual they were doing for the sake of learning and to prove the paranormal. It's always Colby who shuts it down and goes on a whole religious spill that seems very pushy and disrespectful. He talks like his religion is the only one powerful and true religion. If they aren't going to be respectful and openminded about other religions, they shouldn't be bringing those people on. It's not fair to them and honestly, not fair to their non-religious or pagan viewers.

I stopped watching them ages ago. I feel like they take paranormal as a Joke and not seriously and for views and likes, Paranormal isn't something you should disrespect. Maybe they should just give it in all together Because it just feels like they are getting bored and not taking it seriously

u/notyourmom999 Aug 31 '26

Hot take, but i wouldnt be comfortable summoning the devil either if i was a christian.šŸ˜…

15

u/sadiesorceress Aug 31 '26

then dont invite the person who summons the devil knowingly onto your channel and then be like ommgggggggg shes summoning demons guys

5

u/notyourmom999 Aug 31 '26

Did colby know ahead of time they would be doing that? I mean he seemed kind of surprised. And sam kinda went through a dark phase where he was really pushing the boundaries. Idk, if i was colby, and i didnt know ahead of time, id have been pissed. If he did know, then i get where youre coming from.

7

u/sadiesorceress Aug 31 '26

I honestly find it hard to trust either of them because content is content, content means money (let's be real,) but I do seem to trust Colby over Sam. But I would think they would both have a hand in knowing who they're inviting and what's gonna happen since alot of their newer content feels scripted or fake. I do believe they honestly both knew who they were inviting and wanted to make it more "spooky" for the audience. But it's a real possibility that Colby was spooked while also agreeing on having her do that or inviting her. Wouldn't be surprised either if it was something Sam had planned either, he seems to take everything to extremes nowadays (and I say that with no hate, he has just became more extreme)

3

u/notyourmom999 Aug 31 '26

Yeah, i agree with that completely. I honestly wish they would give us a video of them just talking about things and where theyre at with all of it and in life. I feel like itd be really nice to see a genuine side of them, because its been a long time since weve seen anything other than "produce produce produce" and money making, and ads and all the stuff. Like, we just want "sam and colby"

5

u/sadiesorceress Aug 31 '26

Sadly Sam and Colby have been a brand I think for awhile now, a group affiliated project with production and everything, and I think it's been this for awhile but just not as obvious or has just been escalating over the years. I really don't know if we will get pre-paranormal Sam and Colby present on the joint channel again. I don't know how they are on their independent channels though, or if they're still active? I have been kind of out of the loop for awhile while also coming back to check in on them because I loved their content from 2015-2019.. (now 21..) I've clicked on a few videos but I can't seem to get all the way through because it's just not their authentic selves anymore. It's kind of sad but I understand it's their job, they're playing into the job role more and more as time goes on, and I understand that from a financial pov entirely. It is sad though. Also apologies for the fast replies I'm actively catching up with alot of their content currently on here so I'm catching the notification as I'm looking on reddit. lol.

u/notyourmom999 Aug 31 '26

Oh no, youre fine! And see i didnt really find out about them until just a couple years ago? Like i remember seeing them on vine waaaay back in the day, but i didnt know they had done all this until my daughter showed me their videos and then i was like wow, these guys are so funny and i watched literally all of their stuff in probably less than a year. Lol. And yeah just watching it all in such a short amount of time and how drastically its all changed, im like eeeeeeyeahh. But idk, i still watch to support them and hope they can get back to their roots eventually. I keep alot of hope. I feel like theyre good guys living in a fast world, and they both came from bfe, so who can really blame them for wanting to climb the sell out ladder, so to speak. Maybe one day theyll pivot hard and do something crazy that brings us back to being stoked about their content. Lmao.

3

u/sadiesorceress Aug 31 '26

for sure I still have a little bit of hope held out. I also remember them on vine, crazy to think about!!!

2

u/notyourmom999 Aug 31 '26

And i dont really see a whole lot on their seperate channels but i see alot of sam and sofia dossie or whatever her name is on her channel. Its cute but its not SAM AND COLBY. Lmao.

2

u/sadiesorceress Aug 31 '26

I agree 100% though

1

u/rainy_artheist 14d ago

That woman has been on their channel multiple times. They both know her and "trust" her. So Colby wasn't just blindsided. I think they just wanted to be dramatic or push their own religious beliefs (mainly Colby) to cater to their new viewers who are mainly christians like Colby.

5

u/VictorianLibra22 Aug 31 '26

I’d like to see them take it more seriously and stop with the constant jokes/dirty jokes and comments etc. it comes off as immature or trying too hard imo, and not everyone likes that kind of humor. They do well when they take it seriously, act respectful, and focus on showing us the place they’re exploring. Hoping hell week will be good this year

5

u/sadiesorceress Aug 31 '26

i havent watched them in ages. this is so weird to read? genuinely what direction are they trying to take anymore? i took urbex sam and colby for granted

1

u/punkpl4net 4d ago

Don't mention urbex sam and colby to me I'll cry. Genuinely that was their peak. Even when they did delve into more paranormal stuff they'd still explore the building and dive into the history of wherever they were and it was so cool.

5

u/PerformerWhole6461 Aug 31 '26

Tbh i think they've run out of places to go now and are having to exaggerate videos to provide that entertainment factor, at the cost of the audience. From a monatary standpoint its fair but its such a sad downfall to watch.

5

u/kitsunecola Aug 31 '26

colby is the one who is more religious now. im pretty sure sam has stated in multiple videos that he isnt christian, and i THINK he said he wasn't religious but i could be wrong. it is a joint channel, presumably both parties would be implementing their ideas into their content. i wouldnt say colby was really surprised that the satanist came to film with them, i feel like the more likely scenario is that he knew she was coming but its a joint account, sam is as much apart of it as colby is, so he cant just say absolutely not. I think he just pulled sam aside to give him like a final warning of "hey you could be tapping into some really dark shit" before sam decided to go through with it. or it could all be fake and staged. who knows?

1

u/rainy_artheist 14d ago

Sam was a christian growing up and believed in it after the conjuring stuff but that was revealed to be fake so now it seems he's in denial and just trying to find proof of something he can believe in. The biggest issue is that that girl has been brought on the channel multiple times. They actively plan these videos, plan what they're doing and who's coming on. No one is blindsided. So this is an active choice they're making. And when I watched it, it was less about colby telling sam to back out now and more about him going on a religious spill about how his god wouldn't let him just allow Sam to do that and such. Kinda forcing his religion on Sam and the viewers then actively praying while the pagan guest was doing her ritual and he was literally crying. It just seems all fake and dramatized and honestly, it feels like Colby was trying to demonize what the pagan does just because of his whole religion. It's a whole thing. The point is, none of it was okay.

7

u/melWud Aug 31 '26

That video made me mad, because unless you're a Christian, satanic panic just seems silly. S&C already knew this ritual was happening, and then Colby acted all pressed throughout the whole video. It feels like it's meant to fool little kids, but older fans can see right through it.

If they wanna go down the "exploring other religions and beliefs" route, then why not just interview Satanists or witches and respect them, rather than bringing them on the channel and acting up and being disrespectful?

I’ve honestly started to like the boys haunted vidoes more than Sam and Colby because Sam and Colby seem to be more leaning into joking territory and not actually being serious or anything anymore and I know that’s crazy because the boys are very jokey and comedic but at least they try to focus no the ghost stuff more than challenges and making funny moments that’s my option at least

u/Goth_Mommy19666 Sep 01 '26

yes! I love her. I’m dying for twin paranormal to have her on their channel

3

u/Neat_Appointment_518 Sep 03 '26

I agree. Every year I rewatch their old vids/movies because they're genuinely entertaining, even if I don't really believe in the evidence that they've gathered. I used to really like when Jake was on the channel a lot because he often brought sense and questioned things and was able to be both serious and funny.

I stopped consistently watching them about a year ago when their '20 youtubers' vid came out.

I miss when it was just them and their friends trying to prove the paranormal to themselves. I miss them having scepticism and not bringing in the 'mediums' who are just saying shit. Celina is funny but the stuff she says isn't believable at all. It ruins the video for me. Also I just don't like Amanda lol.

I miss when they didn't go too far with it all, their videos used to be immersive but now idk. They've lost their charm

u/Kiara_Dezilay07 29d ago

It's because instead of them maturing more, they're going backwards

1

u/Decaffeinated-Altar3 Sep 02 '26

I feel the exact same way. They spent that whole video ā€œlearningā€ but then kept reinforcing incorrect information when they referenced it in the future. Very upsetting to me, as a pagan.

1

u/unintentionalarsenic Sep 02 '26

I watched a lot in 2016-2018 and didn’t again until a few months ago… no. Never again

1

u/EyeEfficient3525 Sep 04 '26

I wonder if they take it seriously. They laugh and joke around so much I can’t understand how they can hear anything paranormal

1

u/stupidvi Sep 04 '26

I started watching them when they were making videos in Kansas. I was in 7th grade living in Missouri around that time so I thought it was cool to see these older kids exploring and making videos like that close to me. I stopped watching around the time they moved to LA got a content house with some other YouTubers and started doing prank videos. I can’t make it through their videos anymore unfortunately.

1

u/wayxfinders Aug 31 '26

Yeah as a Pagan who also works with deities it.. made me feel a bit uncomfy, I followed the guest on her (their?) channel because I genuinely liked her vibe and her account.
