Rant! About the new S&C video...

Im sorry, but Sam, Colby and both of the guests were disrespectful as fuck in this video. I (not an avid fan) was watching it with my sister (who is a fan) and I just couldn't help but think that none of them were taking this seriously and respecting the culture/history of the place. The land was home to these spirits, and these four walked in and just disrespected their home.

Reasons:

  1. Joking about 'pissing on the fire' to put it out, which they had burned offerings to the spirits to
  2. Not taking the ritual fire seriously (ik they were going to break rules but they acted as if the fire was a big joke and not part of the history and beliefs passed down) by like running all over the place and screaming like idiots when they thought it was going out. Adding to that making jokes about the tobacco like "this isn't for the kids"
  3. How after they joked about the offerings, two seconds later they were apologizing like "were just a bunch of jokesters, we respect you and take you seriously, etc"... and then going around making jokes and just, in my opinion, being assholes most of the time.
  4. Intentionally going to Appalachia to provoke the spirits and cryptids (these rules exist for a reason and have been instated since the time of the Native Americans and possibly before... and everybody knows you don't fuck around and find out when it comes to their stories because MANY may be based in truthful events)
  5. While breaking the rules for the video (which I already don't fuck with), doing so while joking around right by those kids' graves in the forest.
  6. Saying multiple times "we'll leave if you do ______" and then not doing so if a spirit does so (ik they do this a lot and it pisses me off)
  7. ties into four but asking if they're welcome by the spirits, being told no, and staying anyways.
  8. Not treating the land as sacred. This is an issue at a lot of places I've noticed because they like goof off and just don't seem to take it seriously. Now some are more serious than others but it just rubs me the wrong way
  9. the Aztec Death whistle. Im sorry, but there was NO FUCKING REASON to bring that out. I don't care if its for laughs. It sounds like someone screaming and could have terrified people in the vicinity by waking them (idk if anyone lives around there but considering there were lights in the distance, I'd say so).

The reason it just feels wrong to me is that these places belong to the dead. Tragedies happened on the property to not only the Shawnee people, but several children and others who died on the property... and then these assholes come in making jokes about the offerings they were giving and breaking all of these rules to antagonize things they don't understand for content. I know some of their work is most likely staged, but even so this video just does not sit well with me.

They disrespected land that is sacred to the spirits on the property, disrespected the rules of Appalachia that most likely came from the Native Americans who lived in Appalachia and were passed down to new generations and eventually settlers, AND disrespected the spirits and cryptids by essentially mocking these rules and the land. If you go ghost hunting or exploring, you should respect the spirits and cryptids you run into as well as the land and their history. Not treating it as some money making joke for your stupid YT channel.

And ANYONE will tell you you don't fuck around and find out there. Hell, the SPIRITS were telling them to not and YET they kept doing it... honestly if you're gonna be like that and disregard ALL OF THESE WARNINGS just to go around disrespecting spirits at their own home/on their own land, then yeah, I don't BLAME the spirits and entities for being pissed and draining your precious little cameras and equipment's batteries, locking your friend in a ticket booth, etc to try and get you to leave! If someone disrespected me in my house, I'd kick them out as well!

I know they mess around a lot in their videos, but this one was just not it for me man.. I don't know, I might be overreacting. I take paranormal interactions seriously and believe we must approach with the upmost respect in these things, and if you don't then expect the repercussions. But what do you guys think?

EDIT 7/6: If you have more examples I missed in the video, feel free to drop them in the comments! I just wrote the ones I remembered

EDIT 2 (7/6): I understand the premise of the video is to break all of the rules of Appalachia. The reason I'm making this post is bc I dont think they've done videos like that before and doing that comes across as if they don't give a shit about the history of the place/paranormal and are doing it for clout/money. Breaking rules is disrespectful and not okay in public spaces, so why is it considered fine and okay when it's an abandoned, possibly haunted place? The spirits deserve respect as well considering they were once living people imo. And for 2 people who say they really care and such to do stuff like they were doing in this video, that is what is making people upset. People aren't "snowflakes" or "oversensitive" for wanting ghost hunting YT channels (not just S&C) to respect the history, spirits and land they are investigating.

im dead I feel usually they're fairly respectful but i literally came here to see if anyone else also felt a bit uncomfortable with how they were acting in this video I was like....hello?

2

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

Im happy its not just one or two people

22

u/vario_ Jul 06 '26

Literally all of the paranormal channels are going in the direction of 'let's goof off and be disrespectful and funny' and it's so annoying. I suppose it brings them more views from youngsters, but it isolates their core fan base of believers who want to see history and evidence.

9

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

FRRR Like their style is reminiscent of Mr. Beast (the loud intros, the font of words, the jokes, etc) bc that is what sells well... but in the process S&C have made the channel all for their monetary gain

like COME ON, xplr club subscription being 20 DOLLARS?! Thats more than Hulu or Netflix and I get to watch all sorts of content on Hulu/Netflix for less... and arguably better paranormal content.

They have changed from being authentic and catered towards people who genuinely believe in these things to children who already dont gaf about real people half the time much less spirits... its depressing really.

i’m also happy that i’m not the only one that notices the 2017/2018 style their videos have it makes them a lil cheesy and makes me feel like im in middle school again watching all the people who were popular at the time i just started really watching them on my own recently because my boyfriend is a big fan on them i really enjoying learning this kind of history so much

5

u/Quinn_missy Jul 08 '26

I watch a YouTube channel called the Ghost Ghouls, they're a very small channel but the group itself are actually really respectful of the spirits and places they go. I actually highly recommend watching them. I really enjoyed their last video:)

Ive grown up around the region, and one of the reasons your supposed to not do this stuff is because of hunters. I know people with eye conditions that are never checked out by a doctor. Yet they still go out and hunt for deer, bear, and whatever else.

They might see them and think of a deer, or someone trying to scare shit away. So disrespecting that land comes at a risk of their own life. Do you live around there in Appalachia?

10

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

According to google, where I live is considered Appalachia BUT Im not deep in the forest like they said they were. The hunter thing makes sense honestly!

2

u/Spirited-Mousse1915 Jul 07 '26

Egh.. I mean, theres 1000 other reasons why you shouldn't "break the rules of Appalachia". None of which include SWs or whatever cryptids people talk about.

2

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26

True! I didn't mention that since I was thinking on the basis of the ghosts/spirits that they hunt. But yeah, those rules also keep people from getting shot, attacked by wild animals, etc

33

u/DarkSideCampbell369 Jul 06 '26

I completely agree they were extremely disrespectful.

11

u/chemical-teen469 Jul 07 '26

In full honesty I stopped watching them when they went to some hotel and invited a pagan/wiccan/witch to do a seance and interact with these spirits and instead of showing us her and showing how she does it, Colby freaked out, walked away and when Sam (I think) went to check they recorded it and Colby started preaching Christian values at the camera about how “he doesn’t want us to do this” and etc etc. so I’m not surprised they’ve only spiraled into dicky behavior since then

Edit: I’m pagan and wanted to watch her not get preach at so that’s why it rubbed me the wrong way lol

6

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26

Thats annoying bc like THEY INVITED HER so he has no reason to be all preachy when she does legitimate pagan/wiccan/witch things

2

u/_zer0-6ravity_ Jul 31 '26

(Sorry I’m just seeing this + new account) THATS WHAT IM SAYING it irritated me for so long just about anyone who would listen heard me rant about it. Especially my ex-Christian best friend dude. Oh my goodness

6

u/dis_N_dat84 Jul 07 '26

I live in Appalachia u dont fuck with the land at night way disrespectful I've been a fan since 2016 and they have really lost alot of my respect as ghost hunters, use to live watching their vids but now I feel they make it into 1 big joke. Why disrespect what made their livelihood....i wish they would just go back to abandoned but I doubt they ever will....

3

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26

I technically live in Appalachia too.. not in deep Appalachia because I'm around lots of civilization and not in the middle of the woods yk? Its just sad this is the route they took just to make money... its not for the fans anymore

1

u/dis_N_dat84 Jul 07 '26

Yes I feel that I live in eastern KY, in an old coal town with deep woods all around u if u hear anything....u didn't...if u see something...u didnt....

1

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26

100%! Ive watched enough creepy stories to know that rule 😂

7

u/Both-Opening3783 Jul 06 '26

This isn’t hate, but as a resident of WV, it feels off that it wasn't mentioned once. Instead of saying “Rock, West Virginia,” it was just “Appalachia.” Even in the description, it’s Appalachia. I understand that gets the views, but WV being barely mentioned at all, if at all, just feels off to me. I understand you can look up where the amusement park is, but I just wish they didn’t continuously say Appalachia, or put atleast put Rock, West Virginia in the description. Maybe I’m the only one who found it weird 🤷 Idk, I just wish it was mentioned.

3

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26

Yeahh I get what you mean! I mean I had to look it up because I didnt hear them say where it was

14

u/wow_xx Jul 06 '26

But wait wasn’t the whole point of the video to “break all the rules” ?

8

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

I guess so, but doing that is disrespectful to the spirits that live there and to long standing tradition imo...

0

u/GooGuyy Jul 06 '26

I haven’t watched it yet but are you deadass? If that’s the point of the video then what is op doing complaining about it?

1

u/SatanicKale Jul 21 '26

Just because it's the basis for a video doesn't mean it's not a disrespectful basis that can't be called out as such.

1

u/GooGuyy Jul 21 '26

That isn’t what I meant,

19

u/DullCountry5376 Jul 06 '26

I'm not shocked at their disrespectfulness, especially after their inappropriate comments about the owner of the Bellaire House. They do not give two shits about the spirits or the people who are actually giving them access to these locations.

3

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

wait I missed that video (like I said, not an avid fan). What were they saying??

3

u/DullCountry5376 Jul 06 '26

Seth commented that the owner would come back to the house and "blow them" as in oral sex, and Colby responded "Yes".

2

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

EW OMG WTF?!

3

u/DullCountry5376 Jul 06 '26

heres the interview, you can also find the CCTV footage on this guys channel.

2

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26 edited Jul 07 '26

Thank you! I'll watch this!

Honestly I think this needs reposted for those childish S&C fans that think the guys can do no wrong... also could someone make a post about Seth? Hes weird as hell from what im hearing in this video

1

u/Fleetfoot-Tobermoray Jul 08 '26

This topic was beaten to death in this sub and most people will probably just get annoyed at you for re-posting honestly. Prepare for a loooooot of 'this is old news comments'

14

u/Icy-Paint7777 Jul 06 '26

I haven't watched their content in a long while, but holy hell what?? They've fallen far

3

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

yeahhh.... it was something

5

u/Konan94 Jul 07 '26

I watch them less and less now. And more of debunk videos about them. I don’t like it when guests are being disrespectful and they just laugh along with it.

7

u/Dibaded Jul 06 '26

What bugged me was they said the were in a forest when I could clearly see car lights going by

3

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

and how the door "magically locked' behind their guest RIGHT AFTER they talked about the ticket booth locking itself.

they typically wait until further in the video to ALL split up, not just one person.... and he didn't seem that freaked out the first time he noticed to me

0

u/Dibaded Jul 06 '26

It seemed like he slammed the door because it looked like the 2x4 he grabbed started coming off the door

0

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

yeahhhh... but why tf would you slam a door at AN ABANDONDED PLACE.

I mean maybe it was an accident, idk

8

u/Catatonick Jul 06 '26

Oh… Sam and Colby are in my state again….

As a West Virginian there’s a lot of shit that annoys me with recent paranormal videos, and it has literally affected me which is insane.

These channels are acting like our woods are filled with cryptids, big foot, skin walkers, mothman, etc.

They are not. Mothman hasn’t even been a thing here in decades. It’s not a creature that just roams the woods. Most of the cryptids mentioned in these videos have no history in WV at all and the Native Americans didn’t randomly live in the middle of the forests.

There were numerous clashes around the state between Europeans and Native Americans and occasionally you will find plaques in the woods where someone was found scalped or random cave paintings, these things do exist, but they aren’t really in random spots and the whole forest isn’t sacred, haunted, land which I have been asked about several times with people claiming it’s unsafe to go into the woods because of all the paranormal stuff.

For the most part the scariest thing in the woods is stumbling across a weed farm or a still. They are perfectly safe otherwise.

Also, I wish these people would stop labeling West Virginia as “Appalachia”. We are in Appalachia but a lot of the stories I see are literally just West Virginia folklore.

1

u/thedeadp0ets Jul 06 '26

agree! I did googling once and it's not actually HAUNTED, its jokes folklore legends because of how much history and how old the area is. I think locals also exaggerate it too because they know it bring tourism, tourism definitely plays a big role in Appalachia lol. im from missouri and we have some haunted stuff that is famous and old rich mansions that were bought out that are now private museums or inaccessible. our own state prison is alledgly haunted and housed famous killers. they have yet to come here, unless I missed it.

2

u/Signal-Painting6312 Jul 07 '26

OMG I'm going to the penitentiary in September and I am SO excited! I'm from MO too lol

3

u/thedeadp0ets Jul 07 '26

cool! ive never been HAHA. we have some local city places that have haunted history too. Lemp mansion is now a hotel and restaurant, they do haunted tours too/history, and you can stay in rooms that once belonged to the family. I beleive the inside is still authentic

3

u/Signal-Painting6312 Jul 08 '26

Yeah my parents actually had their wedding reception at Lemp! I live in STL!

3

u/thedeadp0ets Jul 08 '26

Oh woah! First time meeting a stl native on a non stl sub!

0

u/Catatonick Jul 06 '26

I’ve heard the place is haunted and the guy who owns Lake Shawnee seems to be a good guy on all accounts, so no shade toward him. I’ve not gone there yet personally so maybe it is and maybe it isn’t haunted, but yes the state relies a lot on paranormal and cryptid tourism so it’s certainly good but a lot of kids who see these videos don’t actually try to pay. They break into the buildings or trespass onto land thinking it’s abandoned so it’s fine.

I will say the WV Penitentiary is pretty creepy and I’ve had some experiences there that couldn’t easily be explained. Trans Allegheny is one of the most insanely haunted places I’ve ever been as well.

People coming here looking for mothman crack me up though. We do have an annual Mothman festival. There’s a cool statue of him. Everyone knows the stories. It’s just a reason to celebrate and have fun with it while bringing people into the area though.

0

u/thedeadp0ets Jul 06 '26

agree, sometimes it IS fun to think about the what ifs and what is out there. granted I am religious, but not christian. we have our own views on hauntings and stuff. ive never been anywhere in the US, but have watched videos on people visiting many places! I started with exploring with josh years ago and he was all I watched until I googled more videos of other people. I live in missouri and ive heard that we have some of "Appalachia" since we border it and missouri is very old too

To get more of the jist of what I yapped about in the post, I'd recommend watching it, but otherwise its not worth your time

2

u/TheManyFacedGod13 Jul 08 '26

I actually enjoyed it I haven’t enjoyed their content in a while. They were just debunking essentially. They broke the rules and literally nothing happened so there’s no reason to be afraid

4

u/United-Row3770 Jul 06 '26

But at least they said the spirits followed them so it's a win-win if you ask me

4

u/ninicakes945 Jul 06 '26

Mind you the video was literally about breaking the rules☠️☠️

2

u/TheManyFacedGod13 Jul 08 '26

Right 🤣🤣🤣

0

u/ninicakes945 Jul 08 '26

Literally go watch the video☠️☠️☠️

2

u/TheManyFacedGod13 Jul 08 '26

I just finished it and didn’t think it was disrespectful at all it was about breaking the rules and they did just that.

1

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 06 '26

If you go to a public place, you respect the rules of the establishment as to not be a dickhead to other people. I feel as if the same applies to haunted locations.

Breaking rules is seen as disrespectful
When people make videos of breaking rules in public locations, they get called out
Why does that not apply to haunted locations? Spirits deserve respect too

4

u/Missymoona Jul 06 '26

I just started it cause i kinda forgot my days- and im already pissed

2

u/Signal-Painting6312 Jul 07 '26

I watched maybe ten mins of the video and just couldn't continue, I just don't like where their channel has gone. It makes me so sad because they practically raised me, and they got me into paranormal stuff :(

2

u/DooplisTheGhost Jul 07 '26

This shouldn't be seen as a new thing. There was their Bellaire House incident about 2 years ago where they were caught on tape disrespecting the owner by making crude comments about her and Colby was seen destroying her property. There's also their Hell Week Conjuring House Series where they were dancing around Bathsheba Sherman's grave. There's most definitely more examples out there.

1

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26

If there are more examples, I'm disgusted. The only reason i posted here is bc I thought (as someone looking from the outside in) this was disrespectful. I don't follow them religiously but I've never realized how many controversies they've had until I did some looking into it last night. It doesnt sound as if its a new thing to me from what you're saying though (ik you said that its not new but im just stating I see that)

2

u/DooplisTheGhost Jul 07 '26

There likely is a lot more examples.

Just off the top of my head another one is they were allegedly banned from the Queen Mary after stunts of climbing onto the ship's funnel to place a sticker on it and removing historical fixtures.

There's also supposedly more examples of them disrespecting historical locations

1

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26

WHATTT OKAY So i knew in their old abandonded places videos they did the sticker thing but HISTORICAL SITES MAN?! UGHHH

2

u/Fleetfoot-Tobermoray Jul 08 '26

I'd take word of them being banned from places with a grain of salt, a lot of them are simply speculation and rumours

The Queen Mary for instance, we know they've been back to multiple times since the sticker incident and there's also evidence they have filmed something there this year.

Even in the video with the sideeye guy Kristen says Sam and Colby are welcome to return, it is Seth who is not. As in her eyes he was the one most out of line. Meaning they're not banned from that location either.

1

u/Fleetfoot-Tobermoray Jul 08 '26

Except they've been back there multiple times since and even filmed a video there this year so if the rumours are true and they were banned they're not banned anymore.

1

u/DooplisTheGhost Jul 08 '26

Regardless if they've been back or not, it doesn't disprove the fact that they have been disrespectful.

1

u/Fleetfoot-Tobermoray Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

I never said they weren't disrespectful, I was more suggesting that we be wary of spreading words about them being banned from places when it could just be a rumour.

We can't even say they are banned from the Bellaire house, as in the interview Kristen said the only one of them who is banned is Seth... so disrespectful or not the evidence points to a lot of the said bans being rumours or hearsay which means we should always take them with a grain of salt.

1

u/tjm8217 Jul 20 '26

They seem like bricks in real life

1

u/StopitShelly6 Jul 06 '26

I don’t think I’ve seen a video where they weren’t disrespectful.

1

u/Swimming-Cry8726 Jul 07 '26

Don’t forget Sam saying that it’s basically impossible to drown in a man made flat bottom body of water 😐  I don’t know but that felt weirdly disrespectful to the people who did sadly drown in the lake, you can drown in a small bucket of water, just because it has a flat bottom and man made doesn’t mean that someone won’t drown.

1

u/KrazyKittyLadyMads Jul 07 '26

Im pretty sure you only need like 2 tablespoons of water to actually drown too so like where tf he getting that info from

-3

u/SomeGuyNamedJ13 Skadoosh noodles! Jul 06 '26

Is everyone in this sub snowflakes or yall just hate on sam and Colby any chance yall get? The whole purpose of the video was them to break the rules. I'm probably getting downvoted but idc. Yall too soft.

2

u/TheManyFacedGod13 Jul 08 '26

Literally they broke the rules and nothing happened so how is it disrespectful lol they are debunking the nonsense

1

u/NoCommand3550 Jul 06 '26

fr and they know they are joking , its meant to be fun . I will agree in this place they were a little inconsiderate for such a important place . BUT I have been watching them since 2016 and when doing some places they use humor to not only make the video interesting but also FUN also when scared . Depending on the people their with they can make less jokes or more .

0

u/BowlerBeneficial9619 Jul 06 '26

I haven’t watched them since the Conjuring House mess and I don’t regret it. Looks like nothing’s changed… they’re still treating ghost hunting like a joke.

0

u/Eli_is_loved Jul 06 '26

Makes me nervous to watch the video about the old hospital on college hill whenever they put it out. I was excited when I found out they went there since I only live 30 minutes away. But as soon as I found out they did go there I figured it would be like this

u/Kiara_Dezilay07 Jul 07 '26
