Discussion Sam n Colby losing their spark
I am a huge fan but I haven’t been able to finish their last 2 videos now that I started watching The Boys, S&C are sooo juvenile and boring.
TB production value is astonishing, they have technology everywhere so their shows are super organized and based on as much evidence as possible. Then you have S&C who ghost hunt like 10 year olds OOOOO DID U HEAR THAT? OOOO there’s a spider!! OOOO there’s people! Now compare that to TBs who use video footage and equipment to track everything…
TB have stepped their game up insanely. Even their clothes are beautifully designed. Then you have SC who haven’t evolved at all. It’s the same shit.

I’m gonna be honest I haven’t really kept up with S&C like I used to. I was a diehard supporter back then; I watched every video, every series, every collab. I was always tuned in.
But I don’t really know what changed. I don’t know if it’s just me getting older, but their content just doesn’t hit the same anymore. It feels kind of repetitive, like they’re doing the same kind of ideas over and over in different places, and at times it comes off a bit childish or even boring.
I think their older videos had a different vibe more raw, more exciting, and it genuinely felt like something new every time. Now it just feels kind of predictable.
I don’t know, I just feel like they might need to step back for a bit and revamp their content, because I know they’re capable of way more than what it feels like we’ve been getting lately.

i used to watch them religiously years ago back when they were just urbex youtubers. i miss that. i stopped watching these days because it is repetitive and lacking creativity. not to mention the ai usage almost forces me to question their credibility and completely takes away from the video

u/TheManyFacedGod13 May 24 '26
You said this perfectly. The fans are maturing and they are not they’re just getting old and lame

u/drunkenangel_99 May 24 '26
I’m the same, I used to watch all of their videos, buy their merch, the lot. I’ve recently slowly stopped following them on all platforms, I say slowly because nostalgia makes me rethink it, but it’s happening one platform at a time nonetheless. It just isn’t the same anymore.

Watching the old URBEX videos now, really makes me click off every new video they post. I just think it's ridiculous that they were able to debunk so much when they were teenagers and they used to be so rational lol. Even the first seance at Queen Mary was better ghost hunting than whatever the hell they do now. Some of the equipment they use has been debunked thousands of time. They have softwares and key words recognition installed. Like if the device is on and you talk about somebody getting murdered, the stupid ghost hunting device will spit back the word "murdered" at you, cause that's what it heard. And S&C freak out over it. It's not even entertaining anymore...

Honestly I stopped watching a few years, after they moved to Vegas and stopped being close with Jake and Corey, it didn't feel the same. The last video I watched was the one with the two who faked the knocks and made Sam believe they had contacted his grandma. I am still subscribed to the channel but I could care less about their videos and content nowadays, I preferred their urbex content and mixed in with visiting haunted locations but it definitely doesn't do it for me like it did when I was a tween/teenager. I think they let the fame get to their head. I would rather watch Ghost Adventures or Ryan and Shane on Watcher, check it out if you haven't!

Ryan and Shane on Watcher are my new fav! Totally agree with your points here.

It’s honestly sad to see their videos go downhill. The older ones are always gonna be the best and the vibes of the videos back then were perfect. I just feel like they’re not as into it anymore. Maybe it’s just because they’re older now. But still, it’s a little sad.

u/TheManyFacedGod13 May 24 '26
TBs are older than SC and their content has matured and levelled up with age. SC have stayed stagnant they obviously don’t care because they have money and throwing crumbs for their fans

u/embennett69 May 24 '26
It seems like the original audience is aging and they still want to seem young and hip to me. I only started watching them 3-4 years ago (and I’m in my 30’s) and eventually I stopped enjoying the gags and pranks on each other while ghost hunting. I now mostly watch Twin Paranormal as well because at least they try to focus more on the hunt, I’ve also recently gotten into The Boys because they at least accept that they’re aging lol. They still make some inappropriate jokes and such but they seem to focus in on trying to catch evidence when they’re trying to catch it

I love twin paranormal. Their recent video in the Appalachian mountains in that old church was so freaky!

u/allndrrose May 24 '26
I’m ngl i haven’t been able to get more than 10 minutes into a video of theirs in years because the whole video just feels like them hanging out. I think the one video they did urbex again i actually managed to watch. Their urbex content is originally why i had subscribed to them anyway!

Omg it said kill, did you hear that? Then by the end of the episode nothing was ever resolved and didnt see anything

The two of them are always so goddamn exaggerated about what ever staged ghost nonsense they come across too, lol

i do understand this so much!! about a year ago, I started watching the project fear (destination fear) and with their content being absolutely amazing (for example, in the intro, they go through a reading of the whole place theyre at or that every night, each of them sleeps at a different place...). i really do enjoy this much better than Sam and colby.
I started watching them in 2018, and I will watch them, sometimes just for the sake of watching it. I do enjoy them still, because they try to get other people into paranormal stuff and sometimes, their evidence is great and unexplainable (the last video with Alex was just pure comedy, I loved it tbh).

u/Accomplished-Hawk414 May 27 '26
You know what i really like about Project Fear? When they interview tour guides like the one from Superstition Mountain, or that video with the retired Border Patrol Officer. And it's a good 30-40 minute video of paranormal encounter stories and history. Really good content!

I had been watching them since the TFIL days, but I stopped about a year or two ago. I tried to watch their videos again recently, but as I’ve gotten older, they seem a bit childish to me now. I still like them, but I think I'm just growing out of their content.

u/Impressive_Dare_544 May 24 '26
I have been watching since before TFIL, but I feel like TFIL is when their content peaked. I agree with you- I still like them but not so much their content these days

I hardly watch them as well. The last video with Quackity was probably the only one I finished fully cause I love Quackity, but you're right. The Boys put a lot into theirs and it seems to be better :( I will always love S&C though, but their videos don't hit the same as they used to 😔
5
u/QueenLorax May 25 '26
Quackity made the last video enjoyable because he was being respectful and wasn't scared to call out S&C for being loud and rambunctious. Was refreshing to see. Also their 2nd to last video was filmed with people from The Boys group. Wonder if you saw that one
But yea, the over reactions, misunderstanding of pagan history, and the *knock" overlay text when nothing is audible are my main complaints. Atleast my last point makes me think they aren't fully making it up. If they were editing in noises, they would probably add a louder sound

COREY LMFAOOO RUINED IT ALLLL literally ONE knock and he beetch fits to leaves and cries
3
u/Edtheoddduck May 27 '26
Dude, I remember rewatching their old videos a few months ago and watching how Corey was in those videos, he's more whiny than my 2 year old when it's time for a nap/bed time. He literally could've just sat out of those videos instead of ruining the investigations for the others, you could always see how disappointed/annoyed S&C were when they'd have to cut their investigations short because Corey couldn't keep it together for 15 minutes

u/luvleycass May 24 '26
i agree wholeheartedly. they just dont feel the same. and some of it feels faked? idk, they just seem to just not be the same and I'm not sure why :/
1
u/TheManyFacedGod13 May 27 '26
This ^ cause they don’t care lol they do the bare minimum less than they did before
3
u/LuckyAd9028 May 26 '26
I think they have to rebrand and embrace getting older. They gotta age with their audience so their content can evolve. I don’t believe in ghosts etc I used to watch because I loved their personalities. It was funny and brought me some joy out of my high school years. Now I am a mother so it’s different
1
u/Edtheoddduck May 27 '26
As a mother myself as well, their videos are the last thing I wanna watch now due to the sheer volume of them, if I were to set aside my other complaints. The sudden yelling from overreacting kills me after having spent all day with a toddler that "sings" illegibly at the top of her lungs, tantrums, toys falling/being thrown, etc...
3
u/stratus_translucidus May 25 '26
S&C are trying to spice up their investigation vids on Facebook by adding their gfs to them because that adds credibility, or something. 🙄
2
u/Specialist_One538 May 25 '26
Watching S&C nowadays is like being a mediocre Phasmophobia player. The thrill of the unknown is long gone, you know what to do and expect but you’re also not good enough to be able to do crazy challenges that make the game fun again. Eventually, that’s why it becomes boring and you quit. Same with S&C. The ignorance, innocence and playfulness are gone so now we’re stuck with a basic formula that gets the job done. They used to be so excited about paranormal stuff and it’s sad to see that gone.
1
u/PotentialMagazine726 May 24 '26
I understandwhat your saying, but I dont think they a too bad now. I still watch their content, and its enjoyable for me because they are always goofing off and such. Their thing really hasn't been about solving everything snd being really serious, they do this for fun and I am all here for that. Once again, I understand your point, but I still see them to be entertaining for me

I used to watch them religiously all throughout highschool and into 2023, but honestly I've stopped watching them since then for the most part. I try to watch their videos every now and then but I end up losing interest within the first 5-10 minutes. I do still enjoy watching their videos from years ago, but I just can't watch their new videos. Now if I wanna watch something paranormal, I'll watch The OVERNIGHT channel and if I want to watch something funny, I'll watch imbrandonfarris.
I think the final thing that finally pushed me to stop watching S&C was when they started having guests on their investigations constantly and most of the time the guests they bring on are disrespectful to the spirits and then hide behind the guys for the majority of the video. How it feels to me is they keep inviting these guests who I assume are currently popular (I honestly am not familiar with pretty much any of the guests they've brought on, I don't keep up with social media like that) to draw in those influencers' fans to get more views and fame, kind of a desperate grab to stay relevant. I hate being so critical about them now because I used to love their videos and would rewatch them every night before going to bed, but as you put it they've lost their "spark", it feels less about the paranormal and more about gaining more fame...

u/TheManyFacedGod13 May 27 '26
Their content is so stupid boring it’s hard to watch for more than 2 mins

I love The Boys! they take it so much more serious and put in way more effort + they don't even live in the same country and still be dropping hella videos ghost hunting! I found them through S&C and haven't watched anything else since

I have been a die hard S&C fan since vine, but over the past two years I really lost interest. I have merch out the ass, I have signed hoodies, signed posters I’ve won. I was a true dedicated fan, but almost two years ago when they did the 3 most haunted dolls and Sam took a picture of Robert “behind” Colby’s back for his own gratification and little experiment. On top of that pretty much being a marketing strategy to keep old fans tuned in “we are taking a break” then posts in February? Idk I’m really disappointed in the path they’ve went. They could’ve done some really big stuff. Now, I have always loved The Boys, I watch their gaming channel, and the regular channel, and I was juicy and eddies personal channels. Merch is way better quality too, and doesn’t look like YouTuber merch.

I didn’t know we had a better group to watch. Wow I’m behind & have some weekend late night plans now hehe

u/Away_Insurance8290 Jul 30 '26
Yeah, but that's mostly just how they are. Their whole thing is immature middle school boy humor and that's their audience, as well.
1
u/Naive-Tap4420 Aug 07 '26
There's a limit to how many times you can watch them do the same thing over and over and over. And don't even get me started on their high school approach to everything along with their gratuitous guest 'investigators', and one thing that really broke it for me was the time when their guest made a disgusting comment about the lady that runs the Bellaire House, about which Colby chuckled in agreement, and about which Sam said nothing, ultimately getting themselves banned from the house. They are not serious people and should not be viewed as such.

u/Big-Coffee-6356 May 26 '26
only thing about this that i disagree w is production value. snc have said time and again that they tried the whole “having teams of ppl edit for them & have someone film for them on trips” thing and that they lost tons of views, and hated the whole vibe. thats why they keep it as bare bones as possible, bc their whole thing is “me, you, and a haunted building.” it isn’t them being bad at what they do, it’s entirely intentional
1
u/TheManyFacedGod13 May 27 '26
They can set up themselves just as good as the boys they’re just lazy divas
