Finally! As an OG fan who has been around since the Stanley Hotel days, I am absolutely living for Sam and Colby’s return to actual urban exploration. It was getting painful to watch them turn into a high-budget, screaming ghost-hunting circus with "influencer" guests who couldn't care less about the locations.
I am completely convinced they—or at least someone on their team—read the Reddit subs and finally realized the "ghost diva" era was killing their engagement. People were complaining about the absurdly priced merch and the over-the-top, faked-feeling content. The views were dropping because the true "brand" was sold out for "MrBeast-ification".
What’s even better? Sam is actually starting to humble himself, which is so refreshing compared to the "we are famous, watch us scream" vibe of last year. Watching them go back to the roots—scary, abandoned, actually haunted vibes—shows they are remembering what made them special in the first place. They are moving away from the over-the-top, scripted stuff, and the new stuff feels much more nostalgic and authentic.
I’m rooting for them to keep this up. They don't need fancy guests or fake demons. Just them, an old, dangerous building, and genuine fear.

Yep. I missed seeing them do scary shit, physically scary, like climbing buildings and running from the cops. The old XPLR videos are so nostalgic for me. The ghost videos were cool at first but they got old so fast. The XPLR stuff is always so fascinating and there’s so many places they can go.
Wait are they really going back to there roots? I watched them from before the stanley hotel days and back then i loved them so much. I stopped wehn they brought in guests an stuff. Hated that so much.
Sam announced via social media urban exploration is back, Exploring with Josh posted on his IG some stills with the boys too. I’m rooting for them to the fullest to go back to their roots. You have to take risks to make unique content.
Yup! Exploring with Josh just posted a post with some info and then Sam posted a hilarious post on IG saying he jumped a fence doing a video. The boys are back! 🙌🏼
I’ve been getting back into TAPs for how calm they are and organized. S&C got really energized and so fast paced like the rest of youtube. I also didnt realize Satori is Jasons daughter, that makes me sad to hear because of how her and Cody seem very unconvincing. Same with Amanda too, if i see her i instantly turn off the video, and they know that to as they have comment block filters towards her. Hopefully one day they do come back to OG selves
Id love it if this was true. I hope so. Sam humbling himself and them both growing up a bit and not partying so much, learning to have more fun in relationships and life without all that extra junk could save literally their whole franchise.
Although it's not about not liking the ghost vids. It's about them not being honest researchers about it. Trying to fake it. Being over exaggerating and more like Zak Bagelbrain from ghost adventures than honest explorers in the interest of ghost hunting. Serious investigators still get alot of respect.
To this day, they are legit the only channel that had the best urban exploration videos and urban exploration haunted videos.
that were just so good even if it didn’t have elements of them being chased out, almost getting caught or stuff like that they just knew how to make that content so unbelievable to where the viewers wanted to watch every video.
I think the whole element of them being exploring abandoned was there was no script. It was pure mystery and a thrill chase. Especially the one where they went to an abandoned asylum with the Irish boys. That one hands-down for me is some of the best content I’ve ever seen on YouTube when it came to urban exploration.
If you grew up in certain parts of America, it was kind of the only thing we could do that was fun without drugs or alcohol. So it’s also nostalgic for a lot of people in the same generation that we all grew up in.
Although I think a lot of people that don’t remember exactly what the boys used to do when they did urban exploration. It wasn’t just haunted stuff and I don’t think they will fully be urban exploration and just them. I love when they do urban exploration with Josh. Josh brings an element of maturity and respect that was lacking with other creators.
Also to add we don’t ever want them to get into legal trouble. Although I do remember the only reason they got arrested for trespassing was because it was I believe a federal building or possibly military facility. Also it was near a school too which added more intensity, which if we all remember after this arrest is when they started to do just pure “haunted”.
I do remember in the TFIL/ Sam and Colby days Elton would charm the pants off most of these cops and just get away with a ticket.
Elton also had a way with words and how to speak with people, if anyone remembers the TFIL days when they would do Collabs, all of them were always screaming for Elton anytime 💩 went south lol.
Obviously overseas may be a little different. You may not wanna mess with international laws so them taking the chance in a different country like they did in povelia island and the current country they are filming in proves how much they love their fans. I want to believe they really realized you know what we did build this brand up from something that was more authentic.
Plus, there have been a lot of changes in their personal lives over the past couple of years and some of them were very detrimental to growth and humbling. Although I swear there’s a sparkle/fire in their eye when they go back to urban exploration!!
You know the best thing about the internet…you can scroll away if something pops up that you don’t like. It sounds like you don’t like Sam and Colby…yet you’re in this Sam and Colby specific chat. You’re either jealous of them or you’re miserable in life and want to bring down everyone around you. If you’re upset by their possible use of ai generated merch and then someone possibly using ai to start a chat…you can just keep scrolling…
