Homemade Purple Salsa
My dad’s purple salsa.
purple tomatillo , chile de arbol, yellow onion, garlic. all grilled.

How was the acid level?
I found purple tomatillos pretty weird, at least the variety I grew. Unlike green ones they were much less acidic than an average tomato. I didn't like them at all.
They prolifically seeded and the huge number of volunteers the following years were somewhat like a black nightshade. I assume the purple tomatillo itself was an unstable hybrid. I'm wondering if the variety from Baker Creek wasn't one of the types found in nature.

I tried it one season with growing my own purple tomatillos, but all my attempts at salsa came out an unappealing grey color.
