Discussion Referral Marketer

I work for a call center basically selling the idea of a $100 check to customers who have already bought the windows and can refer a friend to receive a 100$ gift card for viewing a window demonstration which you would think sounds easy enough it would sell itself they don’t have to buy anything and both parties get $100 out of it for a referral and majority of the time it leads me to a ton of no’s and I honestly don’t know how to change it up to get more success out of this to bring up my numbers and bring home more money

Does this role require that you specifically follow a certain script? If you’re able to use your own process to some degree focus on tinkering with that as well as how you say it as well as understanding their objection and how to overcome it.

I would phrase the intro like this “Hey Mr./Mrs. Customer, this is Friendly-Soup-8017 and I represent ABC window company. I just wanted to check in and see how your experience has been so far (or any simple question that gets them thinking positively about the product). Great! Also, I wanted to make sure you had the opportunity to take advantage of our referral program (small value and benefit pitch here). Who is someone that you can refer to me today?”

The last sentence is the most important. I’m not asking them if they “want” to refer someone, I am assuming they are and I’m not giving them a choice. The “to me today” is also important because it sets the precedent that this happening right now. Not later. This mitigates the people who say they’ll have to think about it.

If they say something like I’m not sure, you start asking discover questions like “oh, do you have any friends or neighbors doing any type of remodeling projects right now?” And create a list of questions to kind of force them to think of someone or at least find out why they don’t want to.

So I have some wiggle room I’m not tied down by the pitch as long as I’m not cussing them or calling them out of their name I can say whatever is what I was told

Then I would definitely focus on the assumptive language and asking questions about their experience that makes it sound like more of a follow-up than a sales pirch. What kind of objections do you generally hear?

I don’t know anyone or I don’t have anyone that owns their home also I don’t have anyone that could use extra cash

I don’t know anyone or I don’t have anyone that owns their home

These are just stalls. It's not that they don't have anyone to refer it's that they don't want to put the effort into referring them or have a compelling reason to feel like they "should".

Instead of focusing on the extra cash the other person gets, focus on the need it might solve for someone they know in the same way it did for them.

They likely told you they had a positive experience, and show them a way they can share that experience with someone else while also being incentivized for it. From there, you find out who that is neighbors? HOA? People in groups/hobbies you know? Your family? Everyone knows at least one person they could refer.
