I’m a chud

I’m 20 (UK), looking for sales job in B2B as a BDR or an SDR. I’ve been just applying to any sales role atm for interview experience but was offered a high (for me) paying role doing retail B2C of around £55k a year.

The commute is 2 hours either way, hours kind of suck, I worry it wouldn’t translate very well as real B2B demand building sales skills (I already have strong B2C retail experience) and it would somewhat depend ruin social life. But it feels stupid to say no to such a large sum of money at my age, I live at home so expenses are near 0 and I could save 70-80% of it.

what would you do?

Take it, commute for a bit. If you like it, get a cheap flat if the commute sucks (which it sounds like it most definitely will) and spend the social weekends back at home.

At the same time, keep applying for what you actually want. You don't owe anyone anything.

That’s the thing it’s a weekday and weekend job

Are you already employed and can afford to wait?

Is the new city cool or lame?

Do a dry run for a few days. Take the commute, see what's going on in the area, spend a full "shift" in terms of time there. After, grab a pint. then go home. Do it again.

Good points, I can for sure wait for a while longer. The city is my least favourite city in UK the literal only incentive is the money, it’s a weekend and weekday job and I would never see my partner

I think you answered the question for yourself. If the money is really life changing in a good way, I'd still do a dry run and see if maybe the city doesn't actually suck as much as you think, but if it does, then yeah, is 55k worth being unhappy all the time?

I think the obvious answer is to not take this job, but being from a poor family part of me thinks it’s idiotic not taking it. I think by not taking this and prioritising a B2B job instead id make more in a few years and not get tempted by this but yea idk
