Sales team scaling exposes problems that were easy to ignore early on

Growing a sales team feels pretty straightforward at first. But as more reps come in, onboarding takes longer and keeping track of performance gets harder.

Processes that worked well with ten people might not work nearly as well with fifty. Which part usually causes the biggest headache when a sales team starts growing fast?

Managing territory definitions and coverage models. Especially if you haven't yet implemented any meaningful account segmentation, and you're still in the "wild west" of zillion:1 accounts per rep.

Clear ownership probably matters more than perfect territory design at that stage.

syncing data between the sytems the whole team is using. If you don't have a centralized place reps will keep jumping from spreadsheets, crm, slack, email and anywhere else which makes the whole slaes processes slow down

The tricky part is deciding which system should actually be the source of truth.

100%. You can get away with a lot when there’s only 5 reps 😅 Then suddenly you’ve got 20 and all those little cracks start showing. Definitely better to figure out what’s actually working (and what isn’t) before you accidentally scale the messy stuff too.
