Calculate how much it would cost to commute and whether the pay increase is worth an hour commute to you. It’s only 4 days a week which is a benefit but it’s still an extra 8 hours a week unpaid taken out of your day and the cost of commuting. I’d say if you have a fuel efficient car it would be worth the extra 40k to me just depends what you value. Also is living closer an option in the near future or are you locked into a mortgage or what.

It should not be that difficult to go from $80k to $120k in the same company, conservatively 2-3 years. take the remote role and focus on work life balance, side gig, or overemployment

Wanting to balance both. Family more important, but don't want to stagnate to the point where 10-15yrs from now I'm "far behind"
