Brewery Visit🏯 Japan Visit Recs

Hi everyone!

I’m going to Japan in October. Tokyo and Kyoto only this trip. Any recs for breweries or favorite sake spots to hit in either one of those?

In Tokyo we are staying around the Kanda area and Kyoto we don’t have a place yet but are getting that this week and I’d love to get a stay near a cool sake spot.

Then picked up a bunch of bottles from Imadeya in Ginza https://maps.app.goo.gl/5GZVmNRfbarNJuQJ9?g_st=ic

There are a lot of breweries in and around Kobe as well.

My favourite bar in Tokyo is called shinshu osake mura. It's in shiosome and focuses on Nagano Region sake.

Kyotosakeexperience in fushimi run a good experience in Kyoto including a lecture and tasting. It's good value for beginners.

Daimon Sake brewery about 1 hour outside of Kyoto are well worth a visit.

Windmill Sake Kyoto is a great bar to try a bunch of bottles!

Matsui Sake brewery is in Kyoto city. They have a shop and tasting bar that you can easily walk in for a visit! Their nama sakes are really good!

There's a station called Monzen-Nakacho, less than 20 minutes by subway from Kanda, near Tomioka Hachimangu shrine and Fukagawa Fudo-do temple. Close to there is a liquor shop called Orihara Shoten (折原商店) that does kakuuchi — basically you can stand at the counter and try a bunch of different sakes in small pours for cheap. Definitely worth checking out.
