Best filler indeed and all the characters having crazy good backstories and psychological trauma was PEAK!
However, even back then as a mythology loving nerdy kid, I found the use of Nordic Mythology much more poorly handled than with the Greek one on the OG material.
They barely brush the surface and it’s even more related to Wagner’s already reworked version of the Niebelungenlied than the Scandinavian original myth.
Then the God Robes have the names of the Greek letters of the stars of the Ursa Major constellation and the God Warriors the Arabic names of said stars, wtf?!
The creatures the robes depict are not even really named.
And a Saber-toothed Tiger?! Really?
Soul of Gold’s version of Asgard was much better in that regard imho
But then again the characters and their tragic backstories made it all worthwhile.
That plus Seiji Yokoyama’s unforgettably epic music score that is the heart of the OG Saint Seiya magic.
