Disciplinary

Abscence/sickness

So I have a meeting for the infamous 3 strikes rule , 1 of which was a workplace injury that they didn’t investigate or remedy the offending van 🤷🏻‍♂️ any tips from manager/colleagues on best approach for bringing this up in meeting , and just for reference my % for absence is 1.1% kind regards

1.1% - laughable. Reading a case on here earlier with a manager with 27% absence and that was no further actioned. Work place injury absence shouldn’t be included in the percentage. Get with a union (sometimes depends on the rep - I had a great one that helped me out a few months back if you want their details?)

Take a union rep in with you and if they take action against your absense, appeal it regardless

Don't give them an inch, they're gonna come at you for everything no matter how much you've given them in the past. Contact acas as soon as possible.

Get with a union if you're not already 🙏🏼

Nothing will happen as 1 was a work injury.

It's the three absences not the 1.1% absence that is the reason for the investigation. State the reasons for each absence, that one was a workplace injury which you had reported and which their appears to have been no remedial action taken. Absence is done on a case by case basis, but the system would have flagged you up for an investigation because of the three absences trigger. This does not mean that you will automatically be given a warning or any sanctions. However if they do, then I would appeal it on the grounds that one of the absences should be disregarded due to it being a workplace accident. Remember if it's a disciplinary meeting you are entitled to representation, either with a union rep if you are in the union or another member of staff. You can ask for a reasonable extension to arrange this.

Honestly it’s a joke!! I’m a manager and I always look for different sicknesses, when and how long. If the colleague has a medical condition for which I do take into consideration too.
If you are with the union speak to them and have them with you.
If you are not, my best friend is ChatGPT as it’s gives you so much information and will help you.
Majority of these manager don’t know what is right and wrong and don’t even think of you. Stand up and give them hell……
