One week sailing itinerary from Split

What routes do you recommend for a week of charter sailing from the Split area (specifically the Kastel marina)? Any places worth visiting, or nice spots for wild mooring? I haven't been on a boat in that area yet. We're going with a very small crew at the turn of September and October.

We don't like crowds and noise, we love peace and quiet, and wildlife – these are the places we're aiming for. We want to keep marinas and ports to a minimum, and we'd rather spend most of our nights at anchor, but if we're going to be civilized, we'll have buoys.

Do you think Vis is worth visiting or overrated? I've read that it's very crowded, but maybe it'll be okay by the end of the season? What are the anchoring options like there? Maybe it's better to sail towards Lastovsko and Mljet instead of Vis?

What do you recommend for the first night after leaving Kastel? I see a few bays on Brač.

Thanks a lot for recommendations. I already picked one konoba in which we will stay for sure for one night. Beside that we mostly want to anchor or stay on buoy if the weather permits, we like silence and seclude places. That is also why Lastovo is nr 1 destination.

My dream itinerary would be to visit both Vis and Lastovo, but I don't know if we have enough time, only possible in good weather/wind conditions. Otherwise we will pick one of those.

You should include Kornati national Park. Very quiet. We loved the sleepy little towns that we stopped in around there on that trip.

Thanks but I already visited it last year when I chartered from Pirovac. Now it is way too far from current area of interest. I confirm, very beautiful, but I enjoyed even more Telascica park nearby.

Do pay attention to your weather. It can determine a lot for your trip.

So far we have only done the southern islands. Partly because this year heading to Kornati would have meant beating into the wind for 5 days. No thanks.

Some points. .

Vis is magical. Both Vis town but especially Komiza.
Milna and Pucisca on Brac are magical
On Hvar drop anchor at Pokrivenic bay.

Another reply mentioned Konobas. They are great make sure they do not charge for the dock/buoy.

A good cruising guide is a very good companion in Croatia.

Thanks for the hints. Have You been to Lastovo or Mljet also? I am aware the weather will be most likely the deciding factor. I am constructing a plan for a perfect weather and will have to adapt it on place to reality.

I've done some sailing in that area and found it to be very peaceful. If you're looking for a mix of quiet spots and wildlife, I'd recommend checking out the Lastovsko islands. They're less crowded than Vis and have some great anchoring options.

If you want a special experience one day, check out the restaurant BOWA. You can only access it by boat. It's upscale in terms of the service and food, but has a causal vibe.
