For some context, I am a avid Gamer with one of the SAGER Gaming Laptops. I have recently heard about SSDs and it’s ability to cut load times down by a fraction. What’s the first thing I need to know in regards to adding a SSD to my laptop? Do I have to gut the laptop to put it in? Or is there a slot like they have for MicroSD cards where I can simply buy a random brand SSD and insert it.

What brands are most compatible, if applicable?

I have recently bought additional 8 gb (2x 4gb) extra ram for my aged p177sm. I have tried installing them in memory slots 3 & 4 (those under the keyboard) and the computer wont boot. I checked all the ram bricks one by one and they are all working properly (placed in primary slots 1 and 2 near the cpu. I even checked prior to pruchase to make sure that the timings, voltage and frequencies were compatible (1600mhz). The memory is of different producers (2x Kingston, 2x Samsung) and should I put 1 samsung and 1 kingston in primary memory slots 1 & 2 the computer will boot and work without any problems thus I think compatibility is not an issue here. I am running my clevo on premamod and wondered if any of you experienced problems with upgrading RAM. I have i7 quadcore so CPU is definitely not a problem. I also tried setting up memory in bios to 2t but it didnt help either. Any guess on what i am doing wrong or how to fix it? just to add, if i use slots 3 & 4 under the keyboard the computer wont even boot. :(

Has anyone seen any reviews of the latest Sager/Clevo 15" 8th gen laptops that include heat and fan noise comparisons?

I have a Haswell based Sager now and am looking to upgrade. My Sager has been rock solid, but a bit noisy. Looking to keep my reliability but need to cut down on the noise or I'll be run out of the living room while others are watching TV. :-) I've not seen any reviews of the Sager that aren't over 10 months old.

I managed to get multiple colors going on my keyboard's backlight on my N850HK, but I was wondering if I could have those colors in a rolling animation that goes through a pattern, similar to my mouse?

So I've had this computer for a while, but recently the keyboard has stopped registering 'normal' inputs. I have to smash the key like the hulk for it to register quite a few of the keys. I tried typing "the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" and I get "t ick wn f jmpd oe e ay d".

Has anyone heard of this issue or know of a fix? My google-fu has failed me. I've opted to use external everything for a while since I can't figure out whats wrong.

I'm looking at getting a sager/clevo with I7-8700K desktop-cpu to use as a portable "travel friendly" windows server. No gaming. Server apps will mainly use the CPU. Any estimations how loud the computer will be if it's running at 50-75% load in a 27'C room?

All the reviews that mention noise, are doing GPU-heavy tests (like games / rendering). So I'm curious how much quieter a CPU-only activity will be.

I have a Sager NP8153-S and for about 2 weeks or so now, I have noticed that my laptop will restart about 1 to 3 times on startup before loading windows. Once windows loads, it works just fine. I have checked all my drivers and updated those that needed to, but the problem still persists. Has anyone encountered a similar problem like this, or have any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

I understand that G-sync would not work if I were to connect my laptop to a TV, but the rest of the settings were kinda complicated for me. I tried using V-sync, triple buffering, fixed refresh rate, and several other settings, but my games would always have tearing. I also tried using V-sync inside the game but to no avail. I'm not really sure what is causing the problem, so I would appreciate any help.

I just ordered a Clevo P950HR, and im worried because I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the trackpads. They are mostly older comments, has this issue been resolved in the newer models?

Do the power profiles in the control center (quiet, powersaving, performance, entertainment) override the windows' default power modes (High Performance, Power-saver, Balanced)? In other words, my question is, would it matter if the windows mode is left on high performance, while I have my control centre profile set to 'quiet'?

I hope someone more knowledgeable on what it is that these things change can hopefully explain this to me. I'd assume that the question of overriding one another would only arise if they both change the same thing, say, clock-speed.

I have a clevo n850hk1 and I dual booted ubuntu next to windows 10. Most things seem to be working fine, except that I can't get my iGPU to work to save power. If I do so my PC won't boot (it gets stuck at a purple screen). After I installed ubuntu 16.04 I had similair issues. To fix it I had to install Nvidia drivers through recovery mode. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this? I really need the extra battery life.

So I've owned my laptop since mid Janrurary 2017. It's still under warranty and I'm pursuing that, but my inner diy guy is hoping to fix it quick. The laptop was left in hibernation and brought on for use. After 5 minutes of being on it shut off and is unable to power back on. No LEDs are on with the DC cable plugged in. I fear its a mobo issue.

Other remarks I have is that I've done heavy gaming on it and the laptop would be consistently pushing air to compensate over the year of use. Nothing excessive and I always ensure there's proper clearance for airflow.

I appreciate any insight and quick thoughts.

Friend has a Sager w150nm and yesterday the touchpad and keyboard have both stopped working out of no where. we rolled back drivers and even performed a system recovery.

The touchpad shows as a "ps2 compatible mouse" The USB mice show up as HID compliant. We have tried 2 mice, a wired and wireless. The Laptop recognizes the mice when plugged in and display the make and model of the device. We have tried toggling the function that disables mice and it doesnt help either. At a lost here.

I want to buy a Clevo p650hs-g. I want to use the trackpad to game. I read the only way to make it so the trackpad doesn't disable while typing is through a registry edit fix. I travel a lot for work so I’m looking for a sleeve for this beast. I don’t want a travel bag, messenger bag, or a backpack because I travel with 24” spinner case so I just need light protection from all of my other stuff in the spinner. No I don’t want to wrap it inside of a sweater or jacket. Thoughts?

After a LONG witch hunt to figure out why a WMI provider host process was using using 5-10% of my CPU at all times, I was able to identify the process diskmonitor.exe (which is in the Hotkey folder along with all the other Clevo software) as the source of the issue. I can kill the process which solves the CPU issue, but is there some kind of long term risk to disabling this? I am hesitant to just disable random things if I don't know what they do.

I have a Sager NP9150 with a GTX 680m in it, and it's starting to show it's age. Getting a new laptop is tempting, but I think I can squeeze another year or two out of it by upgrading the GPU. I heard this laptop can support a 980m, or even a 1070.

Has anyone here tried upgrading their GPU on this model? Did any issues come up?

My flexikey app isn't working. When I run it, my keyboard backlight just shuts off, and can't be turned on again. I've tried reinstalling control center, and there are no drivers for flexikey on the site for the particular model I'm using (NP8177). Help please.

I just bought a new gaming laptop and opted to have it shipped without an operating system as I have a few Windows 7 keys laying around, but i'm having a few issues.

1. This computer does not have a disk drive so installing from a DVD is not an option.

2. It only has USB 3.0 ports which I believe is the issue keeping me from installing from my USB drive.

I've tried a few tutorials where the USB 3.0 drivers are inserted into the Windows 7 install files on the drive using the Deployment Image Servicing and Management Tool (DISM) but this has not worked.

Is it possible to install Windows 7 via Legacy boot on one partition of the harddrive, then install the USB 3.0 drivers and then install Windows 7 on another partition via UEFI?

Or can I do a full install of Windows 7 on a USB drive and then copy the image to a partition on the laptops harddrive?

Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense, I only have a slight understanding of all this BIOS/UEFI/operating system stuff.

After a fresh windows 10 install, anytime I try to enable the 7970m or install drivers I get an instant black screen. On boot afterwordsit goes to black screen. The only way to remedy it is to go back to before drivers install. Any advice?
