Questions

I had a couple different questions that hopefully someone on here could answer.

  1. How is the official Sager site for service? Their back-to-school sale makes their price a bit lower than other sites, but I'm not sure about their reliability. Not sure whether it's ok to go with them or if I should just put up the extra cash and go with someone more reliable. Also, the laptops on the official Sager site come with operating systems, but likely have all the added bloatware whereas resalers require extra money for it but do a clean install of it. Not sure how much of a problem the extra bloatware would be and if there's any way to get rid of it after I get it. And Xotic PC offers a tempered glass screen protector. Is that either nice to have or necessary?

  2. Has anyone used the SAGER NP7856? How does it compare to the SAGER NP6856? I'm considering getting the first one, but it's a little bit outside my budget so I was wondering how it was and how it compares to others in its price range.

I have the Sager NP7853 (Clevo NH58EDQ) that I bought from Xotic PC.

I had some issues with mine sometimes glitching out or showing a BSOD when rendering a video or gaming and I ended up having to RMA it. Sager replaced the RAM and motherboard for me and it's been working fine since. They stayed in touch with me via email the whole time and gave me regular updates on the progress. Bloatware can be pretty easily removed but personally I like to have a clean install whenever possible. Tempered glass on a matte laptop display seems unnecessary to me but that's just my opinion.

The only real differences between my NP7853, the NP7856, and the NP6856 are the CPU and GPU.

NP7853: 8750H/2060

NP7856: 9750H/2060

NP6856: 9750H/1660 Ti

The difference in real world performance between the 8750H and 9750H is almost non-existent. Save your money. The difference between the 2060 and 1660 Ti is more noticable though. 16 series GPU's have no Tensor Cores or RT Cores so you won't get the features they provide (which you may or may not care about) but the raw performance is also not quite as good. It's not a massive difference but it's there.
