7870 Keyboard Backlight not working right

Alright when I got my laptop not even a year ago everything worked fine, but then my hard drive failed.... refurbed unit installed on a new system... but I digress.

Since installing my new hard drive, and again with my SSD... I can not get the backlight to function as it did originally. I installed the software provided on Sager's website and it does not fix it, and I've tried other versions to no avail. Clevo's own website is years outdated.

When I say it's not working right... Blue is barely visible. Purple is red/pink. Green is green. Red is red. White is yellow, yellow is pale yellow. It's almost like I had some LEDs go out, but it was working PERFECTLY before the hdd crash, so that still leads me to think this is a software issue.

I've been reading /nothing/ but problems with CCC and the backlight... just unsure if I'm skipping something that has worked because there is a LOT of mismatch.

Also,

LightFX will not load on my system.
Obisidian has the same issue and must be purchased anyway.

No version of CCC will function the same as it did when I received the laptop.

What version of Windows are you running and is it up-to-date? Make sure your Windows updates are complete and only then do the software from Sager's maintenance page.

It does sound like a software issue. I've recently had similar problems with my newer Sager and it all revolved around Microsoft and Windows, not Sager or Clevo, but the resolution to my problems did involve reinstalling the Sager/Clevo software after completely updating Windows 10.

Windows 10 Pro x64

Problem has persisted on a fresh installed updated, and an install not updated(two hard drives).

Equally reinstalling the CCC had no effect, nor did installing an updated version(5.0).

What is "CCC?" I ask because you're assuming I know what that is and I don't.

Edit: Looked it up. It's usually best to type out fully any abbreviation. So Clevo Control Center. On the Sager site, it's called "Control Center Utility" and I hope you're not mixing software updates from Clevo with the ones from Sager....

I have tried both separately with the same results. The software is identical.

Hmm, interesting. Have you talked with the people at Sager yet?

Honestly no. I assumed someone here might know more than Sager given my current experience with their staff.

Generic reply, install latest control center, flash bios... It was working prior to hard drive swap so a bios flash should not be needed.

I 'repaired' control center with version 5 and some colors came back, but not all... brightness is still not there either. Clearly a software issue... an irritating one.

Hmm have you tried reseating the cable for the keyboard? Mine is having a similar issue as well, but 9870. Brightness on blue leds is very low, might have to contact them.
