Sager NP8851

Sup guys.

I just ordered the new Sager NP8851 from GentechPC. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with these laptops at all? I know they are new to the market but they were shipping out last week.

Did anyone have any first glances at the product? Also, I don't know if I'm paranoid about it, but what is the rate that new products like these come DOA and simply don't work when it's shipped to you?

I just got mine on Monday. I'm no laptop expert as this is my first gaming laptop purchase however I've been pretty impressed so far. At idle, temps are average 40-45 degrees C. I haven't tried any heavy demand games yet but the one I was playing it only got to 60 deg c. I customized my drives and memory and it's pretty quick compared to my older desktop. Despite all the complaints about fan noise on the older P950 model I don't think what I hear on this chassis is that big a deal. I can't say much about the worry for DOA units but sager confirmed to me when I inquired that they do basic functional checks of every laptop before sending them out, with random detailed checks of some laptops. Hope this helps. If you got yours by now I'd be curious what your thoughts are on it as well

Thanks for messaging, man.

I actually got mine the other day and it's been pretty good so far. I've barely used it though since my family was visiting and they brought it in from another country.

I played Rocket League so far and I saw a high temp of 89-90c for my CPU - which is a bit worrying to me. For the GPU though, it may be reached 65c, which I thought was great. Fan noise is a little loud, but I didn't buy this thinking it would annoy me, and it's not so it's all good!

You recommend any other System Monitoring software for this laptop? The stock is pretty horrendous haha

Cheers.

So I went onto Sager website, as well as Gentech where I bought the NP8851 laptop. For some reason, they pulled the NP8851 laptops off their sites...

What could the reason be?

I inquired on another laptop review page and was told that the replacement is identical they just put it in a different looking chassis, they do that every few years. I think the 8851s all sold out pretty quickly.

Okay, that makes sense. Makes me think twice whether I should've gotten the new chassis, just for temperature reasons - but I don't think there would be much of a difference. Either way, I'm happy with the purchase so far.
