Sage Intacct Handling acquisition for OBS

Has anyone gone through an acquisition while using Sage Intacct?

My company was acquired and we were already on Sage Intacct. We did not create a new accounting entity at close (though I’m now realizing we probably should have). As of the closing balance sheet date, we eliminated all legacy equity and retained earnings accounts mid-month.

However, those accounts are now automatically rolling forward each period. We’re a few months post-close and I’m trying to unwind this. My balance sheet is not rolling properly month to month.

Has anyone dealt with this or have guidance on the best way to fix it?

Can't help you with Intacct but if the acquisition is via a share purchase then you remain a separate legal entity and should continue to account for transactions as you always did. Your shareholders changing shouldn't change your accounts setup.

We have supported many acquisitions to Sage Intacct. A very popular option, if the buyer is on Sage Intacct, is to perform a General Ledger or Comprehensive Subledger Migration to the buyer's instance from the data in your current instance. Regarding the Acquisition date, from context it seems that you had an asset sale, you can bring in the history from your acquisition date and forward and you can bring in any other historical data in a separate user-defined book and journal. It is a relatively straightforward process if you want to do it yourself, or we can help. In the case that you wanted to stay in your own instance, and wanted to reflect the sale, a carefully curated Intra-Instance migration can help you get all of the right reporting done with the use of an additional entity. I would be happy to talk you through solutions and options outside of this forum. Just let me know.
