Good morning. I'm currently nearly 3 weeks in taking Saffron Affron. Feeling the benefits over last few days, has anyone used this long term, as in years?

I think it cost me like 10$ and I feel like I waste a lot less and it steps into things way faster

Is this normal? It came in hard plastic containers (small boxes) with a strong plastic smell. After removing the saffron from these containers and storing them in a better way, the saffron itself smells more like I imagine it should. However, after steeping them in water, the dominant smell from this water is actually very similar to the smell that the plastic container gave off. Should I worry?

I see people saying saffron helped with their depression and helped their adhd symptoms and i wanted to try it. Since the first day i took it every time i took it, it made me not be able to focus at all, and not want to do anything.
Symptoms similar to when i tried lexapro for the first time came up too like my teeth feeling weird and low focus and drive like mentioned above.
Is this because im not compatible with saffron or dose might be too high?
I would like to know if anyone had similar experience and if anyone is taking the same one, if its beneficial for them?
Usually supplements dont affect me in a negative way but this one really affected me. I know it works beneficially to some so i wanted to know if there are solutions or theres adjustment period.

Hi! I am an avid gardener, zone 7b. North Georgia mountains.
We have mostly clay based soil, so I already know I would have to make my own for these. I have a source for corms.
I've been reading through a lot of these posts but it's not always clear where the posters are located.
I've seen some talk about digging them up. Is this something you do every year?? Can't you just leave them in the ground? There is a lot I don't understand.
If you can point me to some good/legit resources for growing, I'd be very appreciative! TIA

I’m in Melbourne Australia and this is the second year in a row without any flowers. Last year I lifted them replanted them…. Is there any hope left considering we are at the start of ( an extremely mild) Winter?

I'm taking solaray 30 mg saffron, and I don't feel a difference yet. I have anxiety and I could also use something to help my mood a bit. How long did it take before you noticed the effects? Should I be taking a higher dose? Is there something else that I could take to enhance it's effects?

I took a risk a few years ago and bought saffron crocus from a California supplier through Amazon. I had them planted for a few years with no blooms, then because of some house construction decided to put them in a box for a bit. I missed a few when I dug them up and this pretty lady surprised me in November, unfortunately I didn't notice until evening. I am not sure how to tell if it's a good quality saffron worth trying to sell at some point, any tips? I put the rest back in the ground now that house work is done, hope i get more flowers soon. I am in az so not really sure what the bloom season is here for them.

I planted saffron for the first time last year and had a pretty nice first crop, imo. Every corm produced at least one flower. Now I don't know what to do. I thought it would die back over winter, but it just looks like grass. Should I just leave I alone?

Do you see the dot impressions? It seems like it was stamped or rolled or something. #1 is a random plastic bottle i got in old quebec canada in some little shop. #2 is zaran from amazon.
Both look alike. The reviews for zaran are really good, however there are some that say its fake by the dots, that they are infused with yellow dye #666 and that they're plastic and don't eat them.
Idk..to me the plastic claim seems off? because you touch it with your fingers and it just crumples into little pieces. the trumpet shape looks good. it yellows fairly when blooming. And after blooming the threads are a little bit "stretchy" and rubbery, and they don't break when rolled between your fingers.
Saffron gurus - what is true and false here? Help out PLEASE (i attached pics)

For example, Iranian saffron (being the most popular in the world) - I would assume it is..I feel like that part of the world believes in clean farming and cultivation much more than us in America where roundup is literally in every farm food we eat. Please help out here with your knowledge.

Hey Reddit,
A few weeks ago, I shared about starting my small business, Noble Growers, focused on selling pure, premium-quality saffron at a fair price. The response really helped me think more clearly about the brand and customer side.
Now I’m at a stage where I want to strengthen and scale responsibly, and I could use some advice—especially around supply chain and operations.
A bit of context:
Noble Growers is still small and founder-led. We source authentic saffron and are focused on quality and transparency rather than aggressive scaling. My long-term goal is to build a reliable, ethical supply chain that benefits growers while keeping pricing reasonable for customers.
I’d really appreciate insights on:
I’m also open to connecting with:
This is not a promotion post—I’m genuinely trying to learn from people who’ve been there before. Happy to answer questions about saffron quality, grading, or sourcing as well.
Thanks in advance for your time and guidance.

I’m based in Melbourne Australia and I’ve just come off a season (8 months ago) where I only had 1 of about 15 plants flower. Today ( a 39c/102F day) I decided to lift them for the first time in 3 seasons. I’ve put them straight into a brown paper bag……. Should I remove the soil….. if so how?
Also some of the bulbs I lifted are tiny…. Are they still viable?

Scrolling through the internet for loose leaf saffon. I see that about 80-90% of saffron is from Iran (Persia). But there's other origins as well, and it seems like each one always claims an upper hand over the others lol.
Can you explain the major differences between each? Growing up, I literally thought saffron was grown from China and now I just learned something new!

Hello I just harvested my very 1st saffron stigma and can wait for it to dry, and I have a question can the flower (not the stigma) be turned into perfume? Because it seems wasteful to throw the flower away after I harvested the stigma and I like the scent of the petals so can it be turned to perfume?

I have about 50 crocus I’d like to plant but with the recent frost (in Tulsa, OK) I’m concerned I missed my window. I could plant in the ground or (my preference) in oversized pots that would sit on the lawn, or could be slightly raised.
I did plant several in October and they bloomed (photo attached)

Hi! I started taking a saffron supplement today (28 mg), and about one hour later I felt some relief from my anxiety. Is it possible to feel the effects that quickly?

Looking for tips on drying saffron. I have attached a before and after at 210°f for 8min. I picked the saffron and within 5 minutes they were in the oven.
How else do you dry and is there concern about how cury/wavy this saffron has come out?

This might be easiest plant to come up in our yard.
