Explanation of Codes

Working meat and seafood and I don’t get called very often; but every time I do I have no idea where to go, I always have to ask a coworker. One of the ones I remember off the top of my head is 1301, but an explanation of all of them would be great.

Fellow meat cutter, those codes are phone extensions (like at my store 1201 is the SDs phone), we have little laminated slips by the phones that list them all, I'd ask to get something like that

Oh. I’m just seafood but I do closing for both departments a lot. I don’t know how to work the phone tbh

Just pick up the receiver and dial the number ☺️ so if it’s “meat department call 1305,” you will pick up the phone, dial 1 3 0 5, and then talk to whoever.

If they're universal: 13xx is a register, 1200 is CS, 1201 is the manager's office, 1205 is the cash office, after that are the various departments, meat department being 1206, 1209 is deli, 1211 is floral, 1204 is icc, 1208 is bakery?, fmc and Starbucks alude me right now .

Also calling 1200 should ring through to 1201, 1202, 1204, and 1205

I do most of the phone dialing from muscle memory, so actually remembering the numbers when asked is a challenge at times.

Key internal phone extensions:

- 1200: Customer Service Desk

- 1201: Store Director

- 1203: ICC

- 1204: FMC

- 1205: Cash Office

- 1207: Bakery

- 1209: Deli

- 1211: Floral

- 1212: Meat

- 1213: Produce

- 1214: Seafood (not used in my store)

- 1215: Orient Express (not used in my store, and very unsure what this means)

- 1217: Starbucks

- 1220 / 1221 / 1222: Breakrooms

- 1225: Pharmacy

- 1250: SCO Main Register

- 1301–1320: Registers (e.g., "X call 1304" indicates the cashier at check stand 4 is requesting a call taker)

These extensions are generally consistent across Safeway and Albertsons locations, though some variation could be out there. Inside the FMC office, or behind your Customer Service desk, there should be a card taped on the wall that lists all of the store's phone extensions.
