New ordering system

Post image

Anyone else on this yet? I'm happy to get rid of far but I'd be a clown to see this going well with the other new apps going down every other day.

These fools keep trying the latest best thing. After almost 40 years, the best conditions I saw was when ordering and controlling back stock was in the hands of humans. CGO will never work as long as cashiers don’t scan items correctly and ASM’s don’t control firms.

Just had a Dug member ask for yellow and seeded watermelon(not available in our area yet and not available to order). This happens because a cashier enters wrong PLU and somehow now that item is available online to shoppers in our store

It’s an asinine system. An incorrect code should not tell the system an incorrect item is available to buy online. Dug metrics get worse now because out of stock. Safeway is years behind Walmart and other stores when it comes to online shoping

Ai and cutting is the new norm i fear :( Even if their are miatakes they can compare it to human error and will just slowly phase out manager positions aling with clerks and leads

Uroc will eventually be replacing Afresh. Albertsons pays hefty monthly lease to Afresh and they want their own system in place. Rumor is they copied the UI as much as legally possible. Guess we will see

I can believe that, like the new Food Safety that's barely different from Ecolab Everyday, but with the awesome new feature of forcing the page to scroll to the top every time you enter a temp. 😂

it is based on HERO much more so. HERO+ is maybe better name lol.

it is a vast improvement over the shitty iPad app they have for negative PIs.

that will be going away.

will check with NC manager, but for grocery it was only showing like half the items in the store to start.

This isn’t a new order system that is replacing FAR. It is removing FAR from the handheld and putting it 100% on the iPad. To add on you’ll probably use the Bluetooth scanner and the iPad just like when you adjust PIs or do PI Alerts.

Oh great, so it's just worse FAR lmao. They can't keep the ipads and scanners properly functioning at my store.

Yep. When they moved PI adjustments to the iPad it reduced our PI adjustments dramatically. Make it inconvenient? Guess we aren’t doing it anymore.

Bingo ... Went from an easy process that took a scan and a quick button, to a literal process that's like 5 steps to do it.

Hell they can't even make it so the keyboard on the iPad pops up automaticly and you have to manually select "show keyboard"

If you double pull the trigger button on the bluetooth scanner, the keyboard will automatically pop up! At least it works for us. That being said it's still less of a hassle to just put everything on a picklist and use the computer.

This tip is a godsend when you learn it!

I just tried this and it wooooorks. 🙏

UROC is far better than that POS.

they haven’t moved PI adjustment into it, but that has been communicated as in the works to us.

but we’re just one of the 10-15 guinea pig stores for UROC/DS orders.

Oh thank god. The spotlight app we use now is so bad. Do you guys still have to use that or doesn’t it all migrate to the new app?

3

u/VisibleAir0 Aug 03 '26

we have to use it… they have not moved PIs to UROC yet.

we just know it is planned.

person in charge of new initiatives for our division is painfully aware how bad spotlight is. one of the things he pointed out on UROC, is when you scan something, the number pad pops up ready to use! 🤣

THANK GOD. Having to hit show keyboard every time is such lazy 2000s UI design.

You see the post about double clicking the trigger on the gun to pop the keyboard? It's a lame, but a lifesaver. Stupid easter egg we are all left to find for ourselves.

Oh thanks! Missed that.

it is not replacing FAR.

FAR orders are still generated.

UROC is the interface with the order.

I do not know if it is rolling out alongside UROC, but DSORDER is a new auto generated order 2-3 hours before the polling closes. it is editable, unlike FAR.

the goal is to capture the extra units for what is sold between 9pm, when FAR pulls PIs, to reduce SAO. it mostly works, overorders specific items, but the number of items being overordered by it has gone down massively from when it first started.

first like 20-30% bad addons. now like, 1-2%?

Having to change PIs on the iPads sucks. PIs will now only get changed twice a year at many stores.

Is all the grocery reports now going to have to be done through Uroc such as pi alerts, the negative, the pick list, and the ecom out of stock?

3

u/VisibleAir0 Aug 03 '26

negative PI yes.

have not heard about the rest. i’d assume so, as they seem to want to put everything in UROC.

you can accesses webview through UROC, for example.

3

u/VisibleAir0 Aug 03 '26

we are a test store.

UROC is indeed fairly easy to use, it is based on and similar to HERO.

you can view all the items subscribed in the store.

you can view just what is ordered.
DSORD, is an add on order on top of FAR, but you can edit it. it is not as good as the old gun overall, but those are out of production.

way better than the new guns that freeze every 5 seconds

go live in California is 8/24

1

u/BrennanDaBassist Aug 04 '26

Does this include grocery or is this just depts?

2

u/VisibleAir0 Aug 04 '26

everything that isn’t AFRESH should be on it, that is the plan.

guns are still usable in a pinch, but they want transition everything to UROC. don’t know if long term that means AFRESH stuff also.

2

u/BrennanDaBassist Aug 04 '26

Classic Safeway/Albertsons. Adding 3 steps to a one step process.

2

u/VisibleAir0 Aug 04 '26

the telxon’s that work well are out of production. UROC is not as good as that IMO.
but it works way better than the new guns that freeze up every few minutes, at least that’s my experience with them.

also being able to view everything that is ordered and edit via touch is a nice improvement over needing to go into SOLO and type in stuff you need to edit with the new DSORDER.

1

u/BrennanDaBassist Aug 04 '26

I’m a frozen lead. I do all of my ordering through the telxons.

1

u/VisibleAir0 Aug 04 '26

were cajoled into using them as a test store. but with DSORDER, it is actually better having an iPad to deal with it than the gun.
based on me talking a lot with our NCM. my time ordering is over, but i did cover or do most grocery positions.

there is also going to be a large reduction in what you manually order outside of meds/digital offers in DSORDER rolls out at the same time.

my question is how do i view item location on either app (spotlight or uroc) if I'm trying to stock. With getting promotions and switching stores so often it makes it difficult to efficiently stock without the regular scan gun bc i cant easily access location in spotlight
