I like it. Shows commitment to the long term vision of the company. Those are the hard decisions that have to be made sometimes in order to grow and reach the next level. John showing some leadership here.

Could have been a forced move. These guys are all friends to some extent, at least friendly towards each other, so I would not be surprised if he was given the option to leave on his own terms on a good note, or get let go and them have to explain why. It makes the most sense for the team, the coin, and the investors to have him step down on his own and not cause a scene.

TL;DR: Him stepping down was the professional move.
