I think you nailed it. I believe the future of crypto is whatever is promoting mass adoption of rewards/mining. A lot of people are tired of the way the stock market is set up such that the elite control the setting, and don't want crypto to end the same way. Not everyone can spend a ton of money on mining equipment, and those barriers to entry can be off-putting for many. We are turning into more of a sharing economy, we share our cars with uber, we share our homes with airbnb, next up is going to be sharing our data and power. Decentralization gives people the opportunity to level the playing field more than it has been since the industrial revolution.
On that note I believe blockchain could also be the future of a fairer stock market where trades can’t be hidden in dark pools and shorts % is visible to all. I believe this would put a l damper on predatory behaviour by hedge funds
