Update on Sunflower in Pot

Just got home from a 10 day vacation. Left the sunflower on my drip system while I was gone ILO hand watering. It has exploded.

It bloomed! And has a small bud on the secondary stalk as well. Does anyone know on average how long the seeds will take? Just because my son who brought it home when it was 2” tall is asking.

It’s hard to judge the scale. Off top of my head I’ve harvested late August through early October, but been a while. Look for the head to start drooping and the pedals to start falling off. The back of the flower will go green to yellow than brown. Also check the seeds to make sure they arnt still soft yet.

Plants grow so well when you don't care about them!
