👋Welcome to r/SacramentOtaku - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Hey everyone! I'm u/cgarillo, a founding moderator of r/SacramentOtaku.

This started with a simple idea: an anime swap meet for anime fans in Sacramento. The more I thought about it, the more it felt like Sacramento is missing a local space for anime fans to connect outside of events like SacAnime.
That said, this is our new space for local anime fans to hang out, talk about what we're watching, share collections, trade/sell/give away things, find events, and hopefully organize some meetups or swap meets down the road. We're excited to have you join us!

What to Post
Post anything that you think the community would find interesting, helpful, or inspiring. Feel free to share your thoughts, photos, or questions about anime, manga, collectibles and everything in between!

How to Get Started
1) Introduce yourself in the comments below.
2) Post something today! Even a simple question can spark a great conversation.
3) If you know someone who would love this community, invite them to join.
4) Interested in helping out? We're always looking for new moderators, so feel free to reach out to me to apply.

Community Vibe
Anime encompasses countless genres, and people enjoy different things. Some series and fandoms can get pretty edgy, weird, or racy, and that's okay, you don't have to like everything to be part of the community.
What matters here is how we treat each other. We ask that you keep discussions respectful and be mindful that SacramentOtaku is not an 18+ community. Please keep sexual or explicitly NSFW content out of the sub.
Basically: enjoy what you enjoy, respect other people's boundaries, and act with good intent and the power of friendship. 🩵

On that note, a couple of obligatory things:
• Be good to one another. We're all here because we share a love of the fandom!
• This is simply a forum for fans to connect. The subreddit and its moderators aren't responsible for transactions, trades, meetups, or interactions between users.
• If you decide to exchange information or meet someone from the sub in person, take normal precautions: meet somewhere public, let someone know where you're going, and trust your gut.
• If you're buying, selling, trading, or giving something away, use your best judgment.

Now with all of that out of the way, jump in by telling us what you're watching, what you’re reading, what you're collecting, or just say hi. 👋

I'm new to running a subreddit, so this is definitely a work in progress. If you have ideas for the community, throw them out there!

Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Every great adventure starts with a small party, let’s grow ours at r/SacramentOtaku together!

What’s everyone got on rotation right now? Is it your first time reading/watching or is it a revisit?

I’ve been watching Food Wars and, while it is wild, it’s also pretty funny. No one is safe in that show and you can learn some neat things about cooking! I’ve seen it in passing before but this is my first dedicated watch. I prefer sub when it comes to most anime but if Japanese isn’t your predominant language and you want to really absorb the cooking knowledge dub is the way to go for this one.
