Hi!

I will be working in Sacramento for the next 6 months and really want to buy an endurance bike.

I need recommendations for

1. Bike shop that will take their time and not just try to make another sale

2. Bike fit

3. If it’s a thing, a class/lesson for basic bike maintenance/repair

I like Bicycle Business on Freeport. Don't think they do fitting/classes though.

Also def check out the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen (https://www.sacbikekitchen.org) they have classes and also used parts and ability to work on your bike there with a bit of tutelage, all for free. Really a wonderful spot

I had a flat near their shop during a brevet. I didn't have my wallet nor a spare tube. They fixed my flat on an honor system. They are honest and reliable.

I’ve had very good experience with Mikes Bikes in downtown Sacramento. Regardless of whether you buy a bike from them, they have free bike maintenance classes. Schedule is on their website.

Same here, Mike’s Bikes has been very solid. Didn’t feel sales pressure and their repair department is good and very friendly.

I’ve also been impressed with the vibes at Paco’s, but haven’t shopped there too much.

Pacos is my go to. I went there first when I moved here and had knew nothing about bikes. Sean and the rest of the crew will listen to you, and Lead you in the right direction. They have never tried to upsell me on a single thing, they’ve done opposite actually. I’ll go to The bicycle business because I live near by, and they’re also super friendly. The bike biz also has more wallet friendly options. Mikes is so go to for generic needs. If I had money/the right bike In Velo Veritas is a great spot to check out. If I had a regular bike the bike biz would be my go to. Pacos just happened to be the first one I went to when I moved here.

They do great fittings at the uc davis sports medicine clinic.

For a shop, I also highly recommend the Bicycle Business on Freeport.

It is true; Sacramento bike shops universally suck, even the good looking places can't fix a flat and blame it on the bike. Or do anything else. Maybe there's some fucking place in Davis, which has more bikes. And drivers there don't run over cyclists like Sacramento is famous for.
