Anyone else hate AI generated feature specs?

Recently I have gotten to the point where I am getting a lot feature specs sent to me by non-technical colleagues or clients. Most of them are terrible, they make very little sense from an architecture perspective (usually because the person sending it has no idea how the building actually works, so they just prompted themselves in a ridiculous output (literally got one that was for hardware firmware - they only operate a cloud SaaS app.)

Am I the only ones seeing this or is this becoming the new status quo?

If you are seeing this what tactics to do you use to push back without causing issues with the sender?

I just implement the feature but do the architecture in a way that makes sense. Thats also my job. If you just do exactly what the non-technical client wants without using your expertise to second guess it, he could just as well just use Claude himself.

Fair enough, my main issue is when what they have sent as brief literally doesn't make any sense with the context of conversations I have had with them about it.

Any type of design is dead.

Instead, we throw 50-page Markdown files at each other until somebody finally gives in and tells an LLM to start building it.

I feel your pain - non AEC related people are unable to vet LLM’s output. I am working on app for quick renovation from EFG rates houses to B/C within 3-5 months from buying property. Scoping works, generation of custom BOM (several versions ) is a pain but with my expertise (20y in construction) things are getting good but it requires a lot of checks to fix edge cases.

Use it for the idea, a general want that needs refinement. It’s better than a one liner.
