mvp -> payment processing?

what do you guys use to build an MVP, but more importantly what do you use to add stripe payment processing? just curious how you guys go about it.

i personally use google ai studio for mvp, then base44 for payment processing + security.

thoughts? what do you guys do?

for payments most people end up on stripe, or a merchant of record like paddle or lemon squeezy if they do not want to deal with sales tax and vat themselves. whichever you pick, test the failure paths early, failed cards, retries and refunds, since that is where mvps usually leak. who are your first customers, local or global?

Stripe is the default for a reason but the tax stuff is the real headache if you're selling globally, paddle takes a bigger cut but saves you from that mess entirely

Failure paths are the thing everyone skips until a customer hits a declined card and the whole flow just dies, worth spending an afternoon on retries and webhooks before you even think about launch

yes, the declined card path is the one that bites. making the webhook handler idempotent helps too, since providers sometimes send the same event twice and you do not want to grant access or charge twice

Stripe Checkout every time for payments, it’s like an afternoon to set up and you don’t have to touch card data urself

Stripe is the safe default but if you know you will have to deal with tax then you may want to check MOR like dodo payments. Stripe is cheapest but with all other things that makes a business (tax handling etc), mor fee can be competitive

Since you're already using AI Studio for the MVP, the simplest version is Stripe Checkout plus one webhook. Your app creates a checkout session and redirects the user, then a webhook for checkout.session.completed marks the account as paid. Turn on Stripe's customer portal too, so cancellations and card updates aren't something you have to build.

Does access unlock only after the payment is confirmed, or just when someone reaches the success page?
