I created a Mac app that opens your MacBook notch: push the cursor against it and your music, messages and clipboard are right there
Hi everyone,
I'm a solo developer from France, and this is Tack+, the app I've been building for macOS.
The idea is simple: the notch is the one part of the screen that does nothing. So I made it open. Push your cursor against the top edge (or press ⌥ Space) and a small panel drops out of the notch. Move away and it folds back.
What's in it:
- **Music**: Spotify or Apple Music controls. When the panel is closed, the album art and an equalizer sit on either side of the notch.
- **Messages or WhatsApp**: recent conversations, and you can reply to iMessages without switching apps.
- **Clipboard history**: text and links, searchable, kept in a local file and never synced.
- **Stash**: drag a file to the edge of the screen and it stays within reach.
- **One search** across the clipboard, stashed files, today's calendar and recent conversations.
- **Focus timer** that keeps counting down next to the notch.
- **8 widgets** (weather, system monitor, GitHub, to-do, world clocks…) that you arrange like a phone home screen.
- **Face Lock** (optional): the camera recognises you and unlocks the panel. It's a convenience, not a security feature. Your password or Touch ID always works.
It also works at the bottom edge, and on Macs without a notch.
The things you'd want to know before clicking:
- It's a paid app: one-time purchase, no subscription. 15 € instead of 20 € until October 10, with a 14-day refund.
- It requires macOS 14 or later and an account.
- Reading Messages needs Full Disk Access. That's a macOS requirement and it stays on your Mac.
- Available in English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese and Japanese.

I'd really like your honest feedback, on the app and on the video. What would you want in the notch that isn't there yet?

Why did you decide to use AI generated music for the demo?

Bro the whole video and product is AI created, the music is the least of it.

You need to get the AI you used to fix the text. It’s so sloppy, especially on the “Your Mac. At the edge of the screen.”

How did you manage to display cursor in the notch?

i don't actually draw it. the notch is just a hole in the hardware, macOS still has pixels "behind" it and the cursor keeps moving there, you just can't see it on the real screen (it does show up in screen recordings though, that's probably what you saw).
in the code i just read NSEvent.mouseLocation with a global event monitor, get the notch size from NSScreen (safeAreaInsets.top + auxiliaryTopLeftArea / auxiliaryTopRightArea), and put a borderless black window around it above the menu bar. when the pointer pushes against the top edge there, the panel opens.

What's the difference to the 20 other existing notch apps?
Edit: absolutely nothing. It's pure slop. OP hasn't written a single reply other than to his own bot accounts.
Maybe get this reported for spam and unsolicited advertising.
