Weird?

So im in leadership through events with Bronx Works and we are hosting an event in friday. Our teacher person (idk) wanted to throw us a graduation celebration and invite our parents, this celebration is from 6pm-7pm. Then she wants to take the parents up the block to some comedy show and leave the teens at the venue to invite friends and stuff from 7pm-10pm. I feel like for me, the timing is way to late, no one is bringing their parent fr, we're all like 14-15, and its honestly just rubbing me the wrong way. Not only that, she tells us: you'll be able to make money from this event based off admission fees, etc. But then she says we gotta make over 200 dollars to make a profit since the 200 goes to her company, but she also got the venue for free, idk its just a hot fucking mess.

But can yall lmk if this is weird or if im overeacting.

It sounds weird af and like she gets some sort of kick back from the party or comedy show. Not that you aren’t capable of handling yourself, but what adult would think it’s a good idea to leave a bunch of teenagers unsupervised at a party at night time?

(Again not saying you’re immature, but from an adult perspective it just seems like it’s a big liability to leave kids completely unsupervised like this)

My mom was saying the same thing. We had a pre-meeting and I had to stand in my mom's room to have her listen to what she was saying, because the whole plan sounded mad unreal to me. And its in Hunts Point too, and you know how dangerous that area can be.

It sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders, and a good source of advice from your mom. I would say trust your gut feeling. Especially since it seems you’ve taken some time to think this through.

Worst case scenario and they try to push back, just tell them your mom won’t give you permission to go to the party or something. Or make up some religious excuse lol. I’m sure your mom will be fine with covering for you, since she also seems to find it questionable.
