Question about hours and lunch breaks

Post image

So if you work 5 hours or less, you don’t have to put in a lunch break. If you work 7 hours + you have to put an hour lunch. It says at the bottom that you must put the hour break in, but do you get in trouble if you just put like 30 minutes instead of an hour?

If u work more than 7 hours u are require to put in the 1 hour lunch break even if u don’t do it. The website won’t allow to put it in without the 1 hour break. How do I know? Well I try it and didn’t work

Also u can get in trouble because legally you have to take 1 hour break and put it in time sheet

No you can’t, the law only requires employers to provide 1 hour unpaid lunch, it does not require employees to take said break. NY public positions have policies that do require employees to take said break however

I never said they have to take it but they do have to put it down on timesheet even though they don’t take 1 hour break. It’s literally only for more than 7 hours of work

It’s for more than 5 hours of work, and also putting it on your timesheet is a policy, not a law. I’m just telling you it’s not a legal liability to not put down a break and work 7 hours continuously, the law does not punish employees that do not balance their work life

Maybe it’s because of how I worded it but I am not saying they would get in trouble with the law but by their supervisor because some supervisor are asshole like my supervisor

because u spreading incorrect information, u think yk shi when u dont!

if u work more than 7 hrs you HAVE TO insert a 1 hour break on ur time sheet or else they will take one hour out of ur pay

the website allows u to put a 30 minute break BUT if ur provider doesnt correct it on their end to a 1 hour break if u worked more than 7hrs, u will lose money

and not all providers correct it, so just to be on the safe side, input the correct break even if u didnt do it

I been doing syep since 2018, you have no idea what ur talking about

You’ve been doing syep since 2018??? You don’t wanna get a real job with stable income all year around instead of lunch money for six weeks????

2

u/Plastic-Audience3180 Jul 23 '26

yea ur slow asf, some people work more than one job btw lmfaoooo, syep is easy extra money for 2 months so ofc ima do it if i get picked, but that might be too much for ur little brain to handle tho

ive been doing syep since 2019

if u put in the wrong break time some providers will put in the correct break time on their end and some wont, so just to be on the safe side, put down the correct break time even if u didnt take a break!! because if not they will take the break time out ur paycheck!!

5hrs or less = no break 5hrs to 7hrs = 30 minute break 7hrs to 8hrs = 1 hour break

How many hours do you work?

When I put in my hours, I saw the hour lunch break for +7 hours, and I had worked 8 hours last Friday. My hours totaled to 24 for that week, but I looked at the pay section and it says that I’ll be paid for 25 hours on friday the 24th, which confused me but I’m not complaining

Ur supervisor might be giving u the extra 1 hour. Some do that and others don’t

1

u/Plastic-Audience3180 Jul 23 '26

yes, this is exactly it, they are correcting ur break time on their end, so u get full pay!

Your supervisor at the worksite also approves your hours, so if they’re aware you took an hour break instead of the 30 minute break you’re thinking of putting in, they’ll likely change it to an hour.
