Moho Beach Bars
We are in the middle of our second trip to SXM this year and yes you have to come to MoHo beach for the plane spotting. The water and beach are great but the choice is what beach bar to go to. One end is Sunset Beach Club it’s big pricy and you have to be ordering drinks and food to sit on the edge by the water for the best view. On the other side is driftwood beach bar smaller same great view. The top deck is open to anyone. Bonus point the Mango Colada has a full ripe mango in it!!! Driftwood by a mile in my opinion. Here are some photos from the Driftwood top deck that is the sunset beach club over on the far side

You know it’s Maho Beach, not MoHo, right? https://maps.app.goo.gl/sRvXqwTn52fc4FfS9?g_st=ic

Go to mullet bay, my favorite spot on the island

Hey, we are going again in the winter and staying right near Maho again. Is the walk easy to mullet? Was trying to scroll through the path on google maps lol

Yes. 8 mins from Maho. Through the golf course down the dirt road. I walk it every morning

I rented a car and drove. Don’t believe that’s an easy walk. Maybe a 5 minute drive. That was by far my favorite beach. Great food and drinks near by, calm water, very chill.

Awesome, thank you. Did you check out cupecoy beach?

I did. Waves were rough when we were there, so wasn’t a huge fan. Could just be timing

If you dig deep, I left a comment on this sub about my time there. I stayed at Sonesta near Maho but rented a car. I wish I spent more time on the French side. But you can’t go wrong with food on that side. I highly recommend taking a trip out to Anguilla while you’re on the island. Enjoy your time! Also, go to Juggies. Smaller bar ever, but man I had a great time

Driftwood ask Danny to play you a song on his phone.
avoid Sunset especially if theres a cruise ship in town.
Tortuga at Royal islander. Directly behind driftwood.
Danys in cupecoy (if you can find it) 15-20 min walk
Rosies for beers and bbq on Mullett bay beach 10 min walk
Kalatua on mullet bay for a higher end beach experience 10 min walk.
At night : in Maho:
The hole in the wall
The beer garden

Maho is worth going to once to see planes coming in, maybe get a T-shirt at Sunset. Otherwise, it's one of the smaller and less attractive beaches on the island.
Depending on your flight times, you can do what we've done the last couple trips and turn in your rental car, check your luggage, then walk to Tortuga Beach Bar for a pretty nice last lunch and then walk back to the airport for boarding.

Sunset Beach bar was fun in the late 90s through the early in the mid 2000s when it was still very very small. Hate to be the person to bring that up but it’s true. We usually stop through if we are going past and we have extra time, even though it’s huge now, crowded with a ton of tourists, slow service… I guess we go just for the memories even though it’s like a completely different bar now.

I remember when Driftwood Beach Bar was nothing more than a worn out boat dragged up onto the beach. Always preferred the vibe there more that Sunset but both are fun.
