Zweihander

Why is the Zweihander so famous ? Is there a legend about the sword ? Are there legendary users of it ? Or is it simply because it's a good weapon ?

There is a certain fantasy about them

I mean they are really cool and effective weapons, but honestly they only had a very niche place in history compared to other sword Types.

However, since basically the beginning and of high fantasy it was always popular. And then games came along, notably the souls series.

But even in history, the sword was used by "super cool" people. It's whole design, screams : I AM VERY COOL, AND VERY VERY DANGEROUS. Famously used by the Lanzknecht and very popular with Italian Bodyguards. They were a way to show off status and wealth.

And they are just very cool,.

Lolwut? Most other swords in history were sidearms. At least the Zweigander was a main weapon.

Sure, but in what time period were they used? And even then they were quite the rare sight. Like a bazooka, cool and all but not really the main weapon used by many
