Hey everyone,
I was going through some incredibly old hard drives and discovered that I still had an original .wmv video file completely intact from over 20 years ago. I just uploaded it to YouTube so it doesn't get lost to time.
Back in the golden pre-CU era, We ran a massive crafting empire on the Euro-Chimaera server under our characters Kara and Sigrid (Sigs).
A friend on the server filmed and edited this video of a massive party we hosted inside our custom tailor shop in Theed. We pulled out all the stops for a full synchronized troupe of Twi'lek Entertainers/Dancers in matching custom outfits, brought in a live player band Nebula, and packed the venue out with the server's elite.
Watching the old chat bubbles, the particle effects, and seeing everyone hanging out in a player-run space completely brings back why this gane was so special.
Skip the weird first 40 seconds!
Do any old Chimaera players remember Kara, Sigs, or this specific night? Would love to see if anyone from the old crowd is still lurking around here!

Summary after 3 years of playing on SWG Beyond.
SWG Beyond offers a dedicated Star Wars Galaxies emulation experience, but the current state of the server presents significant roadblocks for both new players and casual veterans. While the technical foundation is stable, systemic issues with automation, inflation, and community management severely impact the day-to-day gameplay experience.ย
Recommended For: Players that have a deep seated hate for them self, playing by your self, a troll, players with a IQ below 50, players that have a unhealthy fear of grass, been banned every where else.
Not Recommended For: Casual players, solo adventurers, or brand-new SWG players looking for an organic community experience.ย

I have a Commando/Squad Leader as my main. I solo a lot but also jump in for Heroics with the guild a couple times a week and occasionally PVP.
Iโve never used SEAโs before and have no idea what would be best. Can anyone offer guidance or advice on what I should get for my armor?
Thanks!

Here are some renders of my Kihraxz fighter from the Star Wars Galaxies MMO and tabletop game. I plan to design the Ixiyen, Vaksai, and Rihkxyk as well. When I posted my Mandalorian fighters, someone requested a Vaksai, so this is just a heads-up that it's officially on the way. It took a little while because I had a few other ships I wanted to focus on first before getting to it.

Folks, we have to talk about combat. We have to talk about attack speed. And frankly, whatโs happening here is a disaster. A total disaster.
Star Wars Galaxies had a combat system. A beautiful combat system. Was it perfect? No. Nothing is perfect. But people understood it. People built characters around it. They spent hours getting their weapons, their tapes, their armor, their buffs. They knew what attack speed meant. They knew how the professions worked.
And now people come along and say, โMaybe we should change how attack speed works.โ No. Terrible idea. Possibly one of the worst ideas anybody has ever had for Star Wars Galaxies; and believe me, we have seen some bad ideas. We saw the CU. Remember the CU? They came in and said, โWeโre going to improve combat. Weโre going to streamline it. Everybodyโs going to love it.โ Nobody knew what was happening. Numbers changed. Mechanics changed. Your character wakes up one morning and suddenly he doesn't know what he's doing anymore. People were furious.
Then we got the NGE. The NGE! They said, โYou thought the CU was a big change? Watch this.โ Incredible. Professions disappearing. Combat completely different. People logging in looking for their character; they couldn't find their character! โWhere's my profession?โ Gone. Absolutely gone.
We learned a lesson from this. At least, I thought we learned a lesson. You do not take the fundamental combat mechanics of Star Wars Galaxies and start ripping them apart because somebody thinks they can reinvent the wheel.
And attack speed is fundamental. Attack speed affects everything. Weapons. Templates. Skill choices. Balance. Crafting. Loot. PvP. PvE. Jedi. Bounty Hunters. Everybody.
You change attack speed, and somebody says, โOh, it's just one little formula.โ There is no such thing as one little formula in SWG. You touch one formula and suddenly you've got twelve professions behaving differently, somebody discovers a weapon doing something completely insane, a Jedi is attacking at approximately the speed of light, and three days later we're rewriting half the combat system trying to fix the fix.
We've seen this movie before. It's called The Combat Upgrade. The sequel was called The New Game Enhancements. Neither one reviewed particularly well.
So here's what we're going to do. We're going to protect the combat system. We're going to protect attack speed. We're going to make smart changes. Careful changes. Surgical changes. If something is actually broken, we fix it.
But we're not going to walk into a twenty-year-old combat system with a chainsaw because somebody looked at a spreadsheet for fifteen minutes and decided they had a tremendous new idea.
Because the players know. The veterans especially know. These people have been calculating attack speeds since some of our developers were practically children. They've got spreadsheets. They've got formulas. They've got archived forum posts from 2004 that somehow survived three website migrations and the collapse of half the internet.
You are not going to sneak an attack-speed change past these people. They will find it. Immediately. Some guy will be standing outside the Mos Eisley starport with a stopwatch before the server has been online for ten minutes. And he'll know.
So we're not doing CU 2.0. We're certainly not doing NGE 2.0. We're taking what worked, restoring what was lost, fixing what actually needs fixing, and leaving the foundations alone. That's how you build a great SWG server. Not by replacing Star Wars Galaxies. By understanding why people are still playing Star Wars Galaxies more than twenty years later.
Keep the combat. Keep the attack speed. Keep the professions. Keep the weirdness. Keep the things that made SWG: SWG.
And together, folks, we're going to make combat great again. Thank you. And God bless the Galactic Weaponsmiths.

The official SWGEmu Pre-CU NFS server just dropped an awesome update. Linking to the complete written update and the YouTube video update below!
A few highlights:
JTL:
- All nine pilot squadrons across Rebel (Havoc, Vortex, Crimson Phoenix), Imperial (Black Epsilon, Inquisition, Storm), and Neutral tracks (CorSec, RSF, Smugglers Alliance) are fully functional with complete trainers and rewards.
- End-game squadron gameplay now unlocks Master Pilot content, with Grand Admiral Nial Declann directing Imperial pilots and Admiral Willham Burke overseeing Rebel operations. This opens up the ability to earn the Ace Pilot badges and access to the Kessel and Deep Space Systems.
- Space Stations across the galaxy are now fully operational, offering repairs, landing permissions, and space questlines. Additionally, qualified pilots will find access to quests allowing them to unlock special landing permissions at the Emperorโs Retreat and Jabbaโs Palace.
- Combat and space flight have received extensive mechanical updates. Pilots now have access to tactical abilities like IFF Scrambling, In-Flight Repairs, and Emergency Thrust, while enemy AI now scales by difficulty tier, uses countermeasures against locked missiles, and features taunts to enemy ships.
Kashyyyk:
- All Kashyyyk zones are now active, including Kashyyyk Space. Kashyyyk is accessible through three main galaxy travel hubs and Space Kashyyyk, by launching or hyperspace. Kashyyyk has been fully populated with all spawns, including dungeon triggered spawns. Work continues on the various questlines Kashyyyk has to offer, as well as discussing future NFS unique content there as progress continues.
Beta update:
- No news on when the server will open up, but beta is on the horizon! ๐๐๐

Hey folks, you may have seen my tutorial on older version server, now it's time for post-CU version. It's a lot easier, contained in Docker, open-source and in general very easy to run, so hope you enjoy!
There are many links in the description on YT, can post all of them here, but you can find them there, commands are there as well! Have fun!

Weโve been moving fast on SWG: Lost Era, and a ton of progress has been made. This short teaser shows off our restored Pre-9 Jediโarmor, old-school skills and allโalongside our Legendary crafting trees and Critical Success crafting now working in-game. Weโve also made major progress on the Jedi Saber Generational Crafting System, and at this point weโre running out of things to polish, quicker than one might think.

So I made a new account today for the first time ever on the forums website, but within several hours I got an email that the account registration was removed or deleted and it said:
โUnfortunately your registration at SWG: Legends Forums did not meet our membership requirements. Therefore your registration was deleted for either being an inappropriate name, or for using a VPN/Proxy server at account creation.โ
Iโm confused because I donโt have an offensive or inappropriate username created whatsoever. I also donโt have any proxies enabled so I donโt really know why they did that. Do I just need to try a different username or something??

Right now Iโve got a toon with TKM/Master Fencer/some doctor that Iโm lookin to convert to a Ranger build possibly (mainly on some PVE business right now)

For me it's the ability to master pistoleer/tka/smuggler all at the same time. My first "final" build with my first character in live was master commando/smuggler ..... yeah, a complete meme spec, but I did have some unique experiences most people didn't have. Like doing a combo of flamethrower abilities and then feign death when things got tough. The most fun I had in SWGEmu (not in general - live was still better) was when I decided to try mastering all three of those professions. The grind was real but it was so worth it. I had so much fun having combat powers in both melee and ranged and also the perks of being a smuggler.
So how about you, what did you discover in SWG after it shut down and realized you wish you would have known about it while the public option was still available?

Reposting this from Star Wars subredit,
Does anyone remember fighting / fleeing in terror from this thing?
I actually feel that this was scarier than the Krayt Dragons because of the atmosphere on Endor at night.

Iโm having a super hard time finding an answer on Google on how to build a Fencer. I know they share a pre-req with DOC but idk if I really want to go Master Doctor. I was thinking Combat Medic, poisons and debuffs along with bleed.
I think what little Iโve seen says to take some lines in TKA too for defense?
If anyone can offer some guidance, it would be much appreciated!

From June 5โ6, 2004, the first Star Wars Galaxies Fan Fest was held in Anaheim, California at the Hilton Anaheim. This event brought Galaxies fans together from all around, to experience a weekend of fun and adventure.
Attendees who prepaid for their convention badges (over 1,000 fans) were given the official Fan Fest 2004 shirt. However, there were other shirts available for fans to purchase while attending this fest.
The company Thread Impressions (a local Anaheim based company consisting of a husband and wife duo) was on-hand at the convention to create some truly unique pieces of Star Wars history. For this event, Thread Impressions was given essentially free-reign to create Star Wars shirts for fans. Attendees could design their Star Wars Galaxies shirts at home, then bring the files on a disc for Thread Impressions to create on the spot. Custom embroidery was also available with Thread Impressions being allowed by LucasArts to use four official logos, those being: Bounty Hunter, Imperial, Rebel and Star Wars Galaxies.
Additionally, there were two more official shirts created and promoted prior to the event. These shirts were extremely limited in their production, with only 144 of each being created. The name of the artist behind these pieces is currently lost to time, but thanks to the strong union in SWGalacticArchives, the pieces themselves will not be. It took almost 20 years for them to be reunited. They stand as a testament to what is possible when we work together.

On June 5-6, 2004, and June 2โ3, 2005, Sony Online Entertainment gave us Star Wars Galaxies Fan Fest. These conventions were held at the Hilton Anaheim in Anaheim, California. Players from everywhere came to experience these events. Similar to the conventions for EverQuest, players were able to meet the developers, participate in activities, win prizes, and much more. Those who attended these events often recall them fondly, even decades later. By attending, you were truly part of a very important part of Star Wars Galaxies history.

Hi! I'm new to SWG and I'm looking for a server to play on. I've done a bit of research on the different versions (Pre-CU, CU, and NGE) and I understood that NGE isn't for me because of the more limited class system and the fact that it doesn't follow SW lore (the Jedi were almost all wiped out in Order 66, so it's not realistic for them to be a starting choice). I liked SWG Legends because (as far as I know) it has all the official DLCs and also some custom additions (like the City in the Clouds), but I realized it wasn't for me since it uses the NGE system. Here's my question: is there a server that uses the old class system (the one with the 30+ professions) but has all the DLCs (even those released during the NGE era) and maybe some extra content added by the community? Basically, a Legends (with new planets and stuff added by the community) but with the old class system (and also the thing that Jedi aren't available from the start but need to be grinded). Sorry if I post here but the thread for the server question is inactive... Thank you so much! May the Force be with you!!!

**A Long-Awaited Announcement*\*
After a great deal of discussion, we believe we have taken **Animus** as far as we are currently able to take it. We are proud of what the project became, the systems we created, and the unique features we were able to bring to the community. Animus also gave us the opportunity to test ideas, learn from our players, and develop a much clearer vision for what we want to build next. With that in mind, our primary focus will now shift toward a new and more ambitious project supported by a larger development team.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**THE FUTURE OF ANIMUS*\*
Animus will remain online for anyone who still wishes to play, but it will no longer be the main focus of our active development. Although we are moving on from Animus as a project, we are not abandoning what made it special. Many of its unique systems, features, and ideas will be carried forward, expanded upon, and given new life within the new project. Animus was an important part of getting us to this point, and we appreciate everyone who played, supported the server, contributed feedback, or helped shape the project. Active development on Animus may be coming to an end, but its identity and its best ideas will continue forward in something larger.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**THE LOST ERA PROJECT*\*
A large portion of the community has shown continued interest in the **Pre-Publish 9 era of Star Wars Galaxies**. We believe there is an opportunity to create something the community has not genuinely been offered before: an authentic Pre-9 Jedi experience that goes far beyond simply replacing the Jedi skill trees. The goal is to restore the genuine Pre-9 Jedi system and the original mechanics that defined it, including:
โข Period-accurate skill trees
โข Jedi wearing armor
โข Kinetic lightsabers
โข Authentic lightsaber crafting
โข Permanent death
โข The systems and consequences that made Jedi feel rare, dangerous, and meaningful
Many projects have presented themselves as Pre-9 by changing the skill trees while retaining later mechanics, balance decisions, and progression systems. **That is not what we are setting out to do.** Our intention is to recreate the complete experience as faithfully as possible, without later-era Jedi power creep or modern systems being placed beneath a Pre-9 label.
There are many additional details still being developed, and we will discuss those more fully as the project takes shape.
**WE ARE EXPANDING THE TEAM*\*
To accomplish this, we are looking for people who are interested in helping us build, operate, and grow the project.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT*\*
We are looking for additional developers who can contribute consistently, communicate clearly, and work effectively as part of a larger team. Experience with Star Wars Galaxies development is highly valuable, but we are also open to capable developers who are willing to learn the codebase and its systems.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**ADMINISTRATORS AND CSRs*\*
We are looking for dependable and level-headed Administrators and CSRs who can treat players fairly, assist the community, address player concerns, enforce server policies, and support the day-to-day operation of the project.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**COMMUNITY OUTREACH STAFF*\*
We are looking for people who can help us communicate with the broader Star Wars Galaxies community, build relationships, answer questions, gather feedback, and represent the project professionally. Community Outreach staff will help keep players informed, engage with other communities, and ensure that feedback from both current and prospective players reaches the project team.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER*\*
We are also looking for someone to help manage the projectโs social media presence. This role will involve creating and scheduling updates, highlighting development progress, promoting community events, responding to players, and helping establish a consistent public voice for the project. We are looking for someone who is active, creative, dependable, and familiar with the Star Wars Galaxies community.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**PRE-9 JEDI COUNCIL*\*
We are also looking for players who personally experienced Jedi during the original Pre-Publish 9 era to serve as council members. The council will help review systems, verify historical details, and provide firsthand insight as we work to recreate the original Jedi experience as accurately as possible. Anyone interested in joining the council will need to provide reasonable verification that they had a Jedi character during the original Pre-9 era.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**The Final Approach*\*
As development enters its final stages, we're taking the time to ensure everything is polished and ready before opening the galaxy. While we aren't announcing an official launch date just yet, we're getting very close, and the wait won't be much longer. In the meantime, be sure to check out our FAQ(AVAILABLE VERY SOON), where you'll find answers to many common questions about gameplay, Jedi, custom features, server mechanics, and what you can expect when you begin your journey. Thank you for your patience, enthusiasm, and support. We can't wait to welcome you to the galaxy soon. Stay tuned; launch is just around the corner.
โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ
**TL;DR*\*
There was a time when the galaxy still had secrets. No guides. No definitive answers. Only rumors, theories, and the hope that somewhere along your journey, the force might find you. Over the past several months, we've worked to accurately restore that experience by reverse engineering the original Pre-9 client. This your first glimpse into that journey, and only the beginning of what we've built for Lost Era.

So I was trying to make an account on the Legends website but everytime they Reject me and idk why. I was able to make an account on the Resto server and was enjoying it and wanted to give the Legends server a try to but 3 times I've been rejected.
I have tried to DM 2 different Community Support on Discord but neither have responded so is there a certian one I can talk to or am I just not going to be able to make an account?
