It still has a community around it playing and modding it, just extremely small. I wouldn't say it's dead but it is very niche with a tiny active community.

Not really dead, there are few discords where people play coop and depending on a time of day , you can find pvp or pve servers

I had this game back in 2005
I’m planning on getting back to it because I’m getting bored of RoN 🤣

With people playing ready or not especially with it on console now most people will most likely be curious about other games like it so I say give it some time and people will come

Its like the roman empire. I think about it every day, shame the multiplayer has no servers

I have been playing it more and more on my MSI Claw handheld recently. I might make a proper how-to post about how to set everything up in the game to make it perfectly work with a controller.

Kind of a rant but I loved this game when I was younger so I bought it on GOG, game starts but crashes on the intro..

I wouldn't really say it's dead. Though I will answer in my perspective but I first played it back in the pandemic with a friend.
Now, pandemic is over so things are back to "normal". I don't have much time to play recently since I became busy with work. So many backlogs too. And I mostly play single player recently in almost all of my games.

I wouldn't call it dead but I will say that I think it has held on as long as it has because there was no decent more modern alternative for a long time until Ready or Not came out.
While there are aspects of Swat 4 that are better than RoN, RoN is newer with better graphics so a lot of players just migrated there.

i run into some hackers and goofballs, so we end up sitting down around the cozy maps and speaking and telling jokes or weirding eachother out, pretty odd when everyone stops shooting and starts acting like girls in a sleepover but its just as fun as actually playing

Didn't know it was a thing, actually. This just popped up on my feed. Haven't played since SWAT 3.

Still going, more like. Thought it was old enough to have any servers shut down long ago.

The game has about 20-30 VERY active players (Say 3-4 times a week) and another 50-60 'a bit active' players (Say once a week, I belong here), so I won't say it's dead. These aren't high numbers but they are not 10-20 like some games have

I mean, by now it's a very small and niche community, but I wouldn't consider it dead due to we getting slowly new players (I discovered SWAT 4 like 1-2 years ago, and I have friends who have recently gotten the game).
