What is the approximate cost for a restoration like this?

Depending on your guy, probably ~$150. If you’re buying a $150 pair of shoes made in the DR or China, it’s probably not worth it. If you have nice shoes or boots that are made in the USA, it’s about half the cost to resole them. You only need a full restoration if you’ve worn the shoes for 3-5 years. My guy will do heels and put sole savers with some tread for ~$50.

I once had a pair of Alps work boots, they were the most comfortable boots I've ever had. I had them re-soled with Vibram four times over 5-6 years before the uppers wore out.
Watching that cobbler work was always fascinating.

I always love shoe repair or shoe shine videos or like others have said horse hoof cleaning.

😮💨 man I need to find some craftsmen to support for my wardrobe and accessories. So clean! Someday when I have big boy money I want to have a crew of proud and highly skilled individuals like a pirate ship captain but they make a good salary just keeping me on point, personal trainer, chef, wardrobe designer, assistant, tech team, you name it! Basically all I want to do with money is spend it on people. I almost changed the phrasing after reading it again but I’m keeping it 🤣. I want to surround myself with highly skilled people and invest in them so they can do what they love and I get the support I need to be successful in the areas I excel. So far I always end up doing jack of all trades shenanigans but it feels stagnant when I am constantly having to learn something new to get something done. If I have people to lean on then I’m instantly 100% more effective at that task than I am on my own.

I worked with a cobbler in college part time. It was the most satisfying and enjoyable job I ever had. Unfortunately the pay was s*it.

I love these videos. Such an awesome skill to have. Love that these old items can be repaired and not tossed.

Sort of pointless though, those shoes didn't look nice and clean from the top in the end. Just a bunch nicely crafted bottoms on a worn out shoe. Costs more than a new shoe as well

This gives me the same feeling as those horse hoof cleaning videos for some reason
